I simply wish this angst to end so we can get back to learning more about the various mods being developed for the car without the pissing contest.
As for your last statement, from the feedback I'm getting I can't agree.

So, does anyone know how many kits RM have sold?
Would be good to hear from some of their customers as to what they think of the kit.

So what you are all saying is that the RM kit and the Turbo kit all have their fors and against.....
interesting......
this is almost like the great debate before an election.......
I'll just wait and see what the worm says.

But, I'm going to be a good boy today.
Well done Gibbo - we needed a good laugh in this thread.
You're deadright about pros and cons.
Here's my summary for RM's kit:
Pros - First to market (domestically) and appears to have had the most testing, development, etc given their previous experience with turbo-charging the engine. Sold by a mob with proven expertise in rotary engines. Walked the walk at the Nats (check that lap time). Allows power all the way up the rev range, backed by public dyno stats, etc.
Cons - Cost ($12K isn't cheap). None of us yet know whether Hymee's twin screw might be a better option for day to day driveability (and power for that matter). Warranty issues. Long term reliability (I'd like to hear how all the customers have got on over the next 6-9 months). Marital problems following purchase .
Some of these apply to the other kits being developed but I won't comment because both people responsible for them are already active here and can speak for themselves in the applicable thread.

im sure that RM would not sell the kit if it is not reliable or he is not happy with it.......he did put over 20,000km's on it......... after all he was not happy with the turbo kit he experimented with..and obviously he did not sell it ....... that is my reasoning.........also anyone you ask in the performance and racing scene about Joe they will tell you that he is a real gentleman and very straight up...
not long now......

I find that the majority of RX8 owners sure have a different mindset when it comes to major performance modifications. I guess that is due to the initial price tag of the vehicle itself.
You are going about this far too rationally Revolver
Once you accept that strapping a FI kit on an N/A car is not something 'normal' (read boring) people do, the decision making process is much easier.
Throw the warranty, increased wear, decreased resale, increased repair cost considerations out of the window.
As a performance car enthusiast, your 2 deciding factors are:
1) do I want to go faster?
2) can I afford it? - and if no -
3) do I want to do it anyway
Repeat until you are
a) deep in debt
b) interested in another model
For those unfortunate 'other people', cars are merely a means of transportation.
You're deadright about pros and cons.

All valid points guys and I'm sure we've all made "hang the expense" decisions more than once.
I guess it all comes down to a personal risk assessment (having regard to the looming behemoth of a mortgage that you may or may not have ).
I'm still interested to hear from customers as they first get it and then later as to whether they're still happy so keep us posted Maxxx.
