RX-8 at auction !
Well guys I tried to keep her in the family (our RX8 forum) but unfortunatley I had a budget to stick to.
At 11:30 today TONYM'S RX-8 was at Auction in Newcastle, I went up there with $17k in my back pocket hoping for a bargain ,bidding started at 10k and quickly rose to $15k at this point in time my fellow bidders were giving me the death stares!! the car eventually went for 22k !! COMPLETELEY NOT WORTH IT !! and this is why:
Car price plus 5% commission for Fowels............................$22k
Parts new and second hand.............................................. ..$15k
Repair cost including full respray .........................................$7k
Rego .................................................. .................................$1k
Thats around $43k
And the car will always be a wriiten off repaired vehicle on the rego papers.
Just thought I should keep you guys informed !!
Regards Daz

Daz, there is a new red RX-8 for sale in Melb that was won in a raffle. I don't know if it's Leather or Cloth, but they want $54K. Was advertised in the Age a few days back.....

Was wondering what was going to happen to Tonym's wreck. Someone down here was keen on a Renesis engine and 6 sp box for a project. I said he should check NRMA auctions... maybe he was the buyer... big price for engine/gearbox though.
So this thing's going to turn up back on the road

Hopefully the wrecked RX8 WONT BE USED AS A RE-BIRTH .
Buy a wreck, only for the details and plates then steal same type and colour car replacing engine chassie numbers and claim that you actually fixed the original wrecked one
cheers

Hey Gomez thanks for the tip !
Unfortunateley $54k is out of my reach at the moment ,Due to daycare and new home loan commitments. I was thinking of buying it with the help of a good friend and treating it as a "work in progress " over a few months kind of thing :o ie strip it myself, get all the panel work and paint work done then put it back together.
Something else may come up in the future or when we pay our 6 off in a couple of years we will be ready.

All I can say is that all RX-8 owners with Titanium paint should be very careful about where they park now.
Or
Potential buyers should be also be aware of a cheap RX-8 popping up soon that may have new paint along the firewall area.
Feel for ya Daz, feel for ya mate

Sounds like some of my neighbours.... I'll keep a look out for a damaged Ti 8 arriving on the back of a truck.

For some reason I thought the RX-8 had microdots - maybe it was one of the other cars I was looking at before I decided to buy the RX-8. (A decision I don't think I'll ever regret too, BTW)

Guys, just look out for a VIN "...000154" floating about - its either been "fixed" or "reborn" -either way it ain't what it used to be ![Wink](https://www.rx8club.com/images/smilies/wink.gif)
My replacement (with Enhanced) RX8 is going just fine and its VIN is more than 2500+, right DAZ-13B? :D
Cheers,
Tonym.

rebirth for sure, that is a lot of money to pay though, by the time it gets fixed up and everything it'd cost a fortune, i have a sneaking suspicion that somebody may have their rx8 stolen, used in a rebirth or something. These cars are getting sent to new zeland very frequently now and interstate as well, be carefuly buyers or 8's!
