RX-8 Nationals at Wakefield park - Good time by all

G'day all. Cruised down to the RX-8 nationals yesterday in the Cosmo (WAR-20B) with my mate (DAZ-13B) along for the ride. Have to say that I have never seen so many RX-8's in the one place at the one time.

Was quite impressed with young Mr Wall racing a RotorMaster car complete with supercharger. I think he got it down to a 1.13.0 lap time which isn't too bad for his first time in an RX-8 & still retaining standard suspension. There was another RX-8 with modified engine & suspension there. The guy was an experienced RX-8 racer but I am unsure on what times he was doing. I'd say it may have been close.

Good people there too. I noticed things left out, sitting on tables or the ground & thery where still there later on. Now, id like to see that happen at another car show. It was also good to put faces to the postings on this forum

What a small world too. Who would have known that GOMEZ & I where at the same RAAF training base around 20 years ago to pursue the same training then wind up RotorHeads with the similar interests

REgards

hehehe, great photo - I'm at the front on the LHS of the banner in the blue cap. (No. 10 )

For once, words fail me - what an absolute blast the whole weekend was.

From the time Waldo met me in the city for the start of the run down on Friday arvo to waving goodbye to the last convoy car this arvo (Alex), I had a grin a mile wide.

The photos that I'm sure are coming will tell the best story but I should say that although oohing and aahing over the FI cars and getting back on the track was wonderful the thing that made it for me was the quality of the people we had there - everyone from the entrants to the sponsors to the Wakefield staff were all amazing. I take my hat off to you people - you made this weekend so fantastic.

BTW - shaving almost 2 secs off my lap time didn't hurt either!

Thanks mate.....we all missed you there. I lost count of the number of times I heard someone say how much they would have liked to meet you and see your Royal Jaffa car....

It goes without saying we missed you too, Kal.....

Well i had a fun time indeed for the time i was there.

Meeting Playa78 & Choppy was a pleasure. Seeing the FI Rx8's was interesting.

But i think choppy with his lap times i a stock 8 (1.17 i think he got) was a job well done i thought.

I look forward to the photos

Adrian

Wow

Fantastic weekend, smiling faces all the time, great company, web people really exist, great support from all the sponsors Mazda, Hymee, Rotormaster, great to see the cars being used to full effect on the track, amazed at Timbo's organisational skills, showbags galore, fine accomodation, great service from the staff at Wakefield ( esp Debbie in the canteen), great cruise up from Vic , FREE BEER (thanks Brewer), Great to see the Police car in the middle of our formation near Gundagai (pics to follow), special thanks to instructors and Macaa for getting us all around a little faster at the end of the day than we were at the start, etc etc etc.
Wow It was Great
(and we even got to see WAR20B's cosmo in the flesh as well as the great Series 4 RX7 modified to fit a 20B in it Drifting and smoking them up on the final turn into the main straight)
And you had to be there to hear the great sounds of the FI cars, impossible to describe both the cars noises other than FANTASTIC

Cosmo rocked mate. No cops on the trip there & home. Home run saw some nice cruising with DAZ-13B taking the wheel & toying with some cars for fun. These things are so quick in that 120 - 180 bracket its shamful to see the gaps V8 Commodores are left behind by.......lol

Put a smile on his face while I caught some ZZZZ's in the passenger seat. I know DAZ enjoyed the atmosphere & it was nice to go to a rotary powered car show & not have the "Lebo factor" to consider if you all know what I mean......

I've passed it on to Waldo (Zoomby) to give to Choppy because he lives a little closer than me.

Congrats Choppy.

Oh, and Choppy was in A division and got down to 1.16 something. Scared hell out of his instructor too!
