RX8 Guestimate

I need some help please in valuing the RX8. The time has come for me to part ways with my 05, leather trim, manual, winning blue, 8 with personalised plates MIRX8 (My RX8).
The car has a few (3) car door dents (creases) across the guard (Drivers side) and one on the main drivers doors which i had removed (but for which a crease is still visible in some shades of light). There is some kerb marking on the rims with one worse than the others (minor) and the rear bumper has some minor surface impressions from a really soft meeting with a brick wall, again its only noticeable close up. The car also has rear wheel guards (mazda genuine accesories) and one of them is noticeably marked. In my opinion, all are repairable (or replaceable) although I dont have an idea of the cost.
Soory i dont have any pictures to put up right now....
The car has a sunroof, 20,000km, full service history, illuminated gear ****, luggage mat (makes the boot area flat and has a hinged cover over the storage area), crests rear and front and side strakes.(UK imports). It has a Hymee grill and a Hymee RX* sports exhaust (original exhaust also available). Original tyres.

I know I can do a red book, but Im reaching out to the knoweldge of the forum because I am likely to get a better understanding from those who know, sell, fix, and USE the car.
So your ideas, suggestions etc are very welcome.

Thanks
MIRX8
One step away from signing off for as long as i can handle not having my RX8

Tim, Sad to see you go mate. On the positive side it seems business is booming. How many stores do you have now?

As to value, unfortunately with recent events (40th anniversay and series II coming out) I am of the belief that regardless of redbook value your car is going to striglle to get 35,000. I would put a guestimate of 32 on it and still think you will struggle to get that.

Good luck and stay in contact (in fact we have a get together soon - check .com.au forum).

Cheers

Andrew

05 with 20K on it I think you should start around 42.5K and be willing to take 39K for a fast sale.

On a side note if you decide to take auzoom's advice and ask 32K or take less than that for it let me know, I know a few whole sellers that would take it in a second at that price.

My 2 cents worth

Take the time effort to repair all of the above as most car Buyers a quite **** and wont buy a car that needs these repairs especially when theres 207 others too choose from , price wise $ 38, 000 for quick sale once its fixed .

Andrew just as well youre not a car valuer

Cheers

I don't know your full circumstances mirx, but don't rush into it. If you are going to trade it in, you can expect the price Andrew is talking about.

Trading is one of the least painful ways of disposal and if you go that way, lay out the facts first to the car salesman.

Tell him/her, "This is the bottom line I want for the car (e.g. 33K)

Find out the commission, car yard costs, taxes etc? ($4K?)

This should then reflect a yard price of around $37,999.

Otherwise go private and shoot for $36K.

Above all don't feel you're obligated or be pushed into selling.....thats my 2c worth anyhow....

all great advice guys - thats why i'll miss the forum - i'll be back andrew, 3 shops now and practicality (family as well) is an issue but i love the 8.... all valid points and not long after after i put this post up the offer was $37 as a trade in. From the pure point of saving time (an issue for me) it seems reasonable and the road of less resistance - its just coming to terms with parting!!!
Andrew - I'll check the get together !!

When you look at the prices people are asking for 2nd hand, how many are there and how long they are waiting I think this reflects the fact their asking prices are way!! to high.

Having said that, maybe my 32k was a little low and that 35k is actually achievable but in all honesty its a mater of how quickly and how much you have to get for it.

The fact you have been offered 37k for a trade in, I would take that and run.

Cheers
