Fail!
Hope you are still coming today?

Our babysitters fell through at the last minute, but organised some more. Have to detour past Waiuku to drop the sprogs off now. At least it's kinda on the way.

Thanks Brett and Roger for running the tour.

I just wonder how many people are interested to goto Hampton down for a halfday Skid Pan session. They have a slot on either Sat 16/4/11 & Sat 14/5/11 and it will cost $40-$50 per head if we have enough interest.

The skid pan session generally have two or more of below activities:
1-gymkhana in dry and then wet
2-free style - do what ever you like with the 5 cones on the pan
3-ABS/Safety demo
4-timed session

The event will be run by http://www.playdayontrack.co.nz/index.php

Hi All

Finally got back home tonight, so thought I better make a few comments about our day out.
First of all I wish to thank everyone who made the effort to come along on the day.
I think for a first event, it was a good turnout. It was a little disapointing that not everyone managed to finish the event, but I understand everyone has different situations and maybe we should have started the event an hour earlier.
Something I will take into consideration for next time.
As you will all see from the photos, the prize that some of you missed out on was a Rotor Clock, it was won by our Father and son team who managed to finish the event and got the most questions wright.
Good to hear that Miss8 got home safely and managed to sell her car with no problems. Hopefully you might buy another one sometime.
Fantastic photos from everyone, I certainly hope these inspire a few more people to maybe think about coming along to the next event.
Did I just say that, yeah well, I have been thinking already about another event.
What I would like to know is what did you like about our Mystery tour and what didn't you like?
This will give me a few more clues as to what would be good to see in the next event.
Please don't be afraid to give me your true feelings about the event, good or bad.
So far I'm thinking of a 2 day event over a 3 day weekend, this would give you a day to get home.
Labour weekend is looking good for me so far, and probably down in Taupo, so that we can get some more cars come to the event from around the country.
How about the " RX8 Nationals " or maybe someone can come up with a good name for the next event.
Anyway this may give you all a few things to think about.

Rotaman

I thought the event was really well put together – Thanks again, Brett & Roger
First time for most of us on a drive like this and I thought it was really good

Having a co-driver would have helped (will definitely try to have one next time) ,
Having no co-driver was little tough, esp not knowing those back road, but Hey, we got there in the end !!!

First time took my 8 for a run long as we did on Sunday
The windy roads were perfect followed by the straights
As Brett said, the traction control makes you feel like a good driver on those tight corners and turns
The few gravel roads kept us under the speed limit I’d say other wise ….

A 2 to 3 day tour would be good for the next time (Labour Weekend would accommodate perfectly)
Taupo would be perfect, good distance as well, central for most RX8 owners in the North Island
If route could contain windy mountains roads followed by the straights (take the back Roads to Taupo, if there are any )

I thought it was a great day. If our original babysitters didn't fall through we probably could have stayed untill the end.

I like the idea of a weekend meet, but the extra cost of accomodation and fuel, along with arranging it around other commitments (like children!) may limit attendance. I would suggest that if it were to be a weekend that it be arranged in such a way that there was a "main event" on 1 of the days that people who couldn't come for the whole weekend could make a day trip of.

Oooooo......how about a "Rotovegas RX8 Rendezvous"

I liked the mix of convoy and solo driving. I thought it was good to do a bit of each.

I also like that my 8 seems to be running better now than before. Idling smoother etc. Maybe I blew out some carbon buildup, or maybe it just feels more loved

We had a great day although I have to admit that a 13 year old was over driving by 3pm.

Loved the mix of solo and convoy and have to agree the 8 is now running really smooth.

Like the the two day event but again with three kids I'm limited to when I can attend so an entire weekend may be hard to make but on the plus side the better half after seeing the photos is really keen to come so maybe dumping the kids (Easier said than done) may be a go.

I think this was the first time I actually got to know my car and appreciate talking to you all.

The reason I brought the RX8 was simple - It's different and man when you want to play it does all that (except when being blown away by Brett ....not sure if the new kitchen will get in the way of a turbo)

Lets make the next event happen !
