12 more and you'll be a senior member :D and you can pick your description.
Hmm... I think you and Hymee should catch up early before the meet for the banana thing... I for one do not want to be even close to such an affair :p

Some more trivia...
I heard that headlight washers are an Australian design requirement for all cars with xenon headlights. Hence why we've got them. You will also see washers on cars like the S2000, where they look really out of place. Apparently the reason is that because the intensity of the xenon lights are so strong, washers are installed to remove grime and dirt that may refract the light from your headlights into the eyes of on-coming motorists.
Also - the clear indicators are a pretty popular aftermarket accessory in the US. They are going for US$70 if I recall.

ok ok ok..
I want to make this very clear.. the banana is history * grin *
It was a nice thought - but on re-review - it's developed a very nasty connotation that any healthy RX8 pilot would do a tail spin on [ sorry - couldn't help myself one final refference ].
After almost pissing myself reding the follow up posts to the whole 'nana thing - **** - I'm going to need those ribs round for fractures!
I'm pleased to say that "YOU PEOPLE NEED HELP - SEEK PROFESSIONAL ADVICE!"
And I'm very glad to be in the midst 'o y'all!
On more relevant note:
I have actually noticed the light "refraction" thing at night, driving back from Qld recently I noticed that the lights seemed pretty dull, so I hit the old RX8 two step and sprayed the lights a few times.. and the difference was instantly noticable.. particularly the short to medium spread of light.. for some reason the long distance lighting was not really much dirrerent, but the first say 10 to 15 metres I could indeed tell the difference between "bug **** and brains" covered head lights and "non-bug **** and brains" covered lights..
I wonder if there's an air dam design that could produce a bow wave type effect that could keep those pesky bugs off the car?
Hymee: was your grill design driven by the Bogon Moth by they way? Just curious - they are up your way arn't they?
Those pesky beggards can really make a mess when they commit the old **** and brains manouver on any car..
on a less serious note:
has anyone else found that you can really **** off a tree fiddy driver by exercising your right to wash your lights while sitting at a Red light?
the look on a 350z drivers face as they realise you just sprayed their car as you peal off doing the old RX8 double tap on the window wipers..
****.. you'd have to watch the entire mexican air force crash land into a petrolium plant to beat that for good laughs!

It is nut bug **** and brains. It is bug's ****. Cause that is the last thing that goes through their minds as they hit. Hehehe.
I can't join the spray squad. I have the poverty pack. Plus I get the ***** when anyones washers are badly aligned I get there stinkin dirty water on my loveley clean paint.
And yes, the big Qld bugs are also something that can make a hole in the cooler cores. I just need to invent something that protects from the drop bears, and also from being overtaken by hoop snakes!.
Sometimes I just crack myself up.
Cheers,
Hymee.

Oh.. you're in commedy as well as bars and grills ( note I didn't mention anything to do with adjusting the alignment of yellow fruit.. well, I am refering to it, but not exactly or explicitely in the form of the actual banana and it's bending.. oh ****.. I did mention it.. ah well.. * grin * ).
what is the impact velocity of a drop bear at 120km p/h anyway? it's probably right up there with those frozen size 12 chickens the USA airforce launch at 300 km p/h at their fighter jets in wind tunnels to test the impact capabilities of their segmented cockpit designs!
as for your hoop snakes.. what the f*ck is a hoop snake [ I know what I think it is - what do you think it is? ].
and there's no shame in the povery pack - it's a thing of choice of course.. a light washer doesn't make any difference to the car at 180km p/h or more in 4th gear at 9400 rpm * grin *
++dez;
ps: arn't you back in AU yet?

No dude, still in Hunstville, Alabama.
I get back to my favourite city in the world on Friday.
A hoop snake puts it tail in its mouth and rolls along like a hoop to chase you.
And if you don't believe in Drop Bears - just watch the Bundy add. They are a gem. We had a young Swedish lady on a working holiday do some reception work in the office. One of the guys started talking to here about dangerous bugs etc... I couldn't help myself and mentioned the Drop Bears. Can you just image her sweedish accent "Drrr'op Bearrz??" Just like the add on telly. It barred me up. Sorry, it cracked me up.
Maybe I am a cunny funt.
Cheers,
Hymee.

back of the envelope math tells me you only have to sell a hand full of tickets to Hymee's Bar and Grill to fund an upgrade... if you're into that sort of thing..
I have to say though, that although I'm still somewhat smitten with the car, I have a couple of things that I really feel like I got ripped off by, and the top of my "geeze guys.." list is:
1 - plastic "looks like metal" strips down the top edge of the centre console - **** - how much would the aluminium version cost - if you can do an RX8 logo strip on the inside door step, then for god sake do the top edge of the centre console that's going to get a **** load more bumps and knocks and eyeball time.
I've actually considered getting an engineering firm look at replacing the silver plastic for me if they can do something that won't screw the car up.

This really needs a separate thread... WHAT CHEESES ME OFF .. (apologies to Daryl and Ozzie!)
I fully agree with you though (I cant believe I wrote those words, my 13 year old daughter would be proud .. fully!)
My plastuminium was marked on day 5 but has been complemented by marks in the back and on the side of the plastic backing to the drivers seat.
WHATEVER HAPPENED TO HARD PLASTIC !!!!!
Of course the annoyance is fully mitigated by both the pathetic grin I wear all the time and the 'I bet I can take that corner without using the brakes' feeling ...
Life is a trade off !

Yea,
I found that there's a Mazdaspeed replacement [ no surprises there - they have some pretty funky nuts working there - most of whom I'd love to meet ]..
Check out:
https://www.rx8club.com/showthread.p...+console+metal
Canzoomer said he imports from Japan for around $495 which I'm assuming is USD [ he's in the states ].. I've asked in the thread if he'll ship here or perhaps he'll give me details of where in Japan we can get them from.
I'm planning next week to go shopping for some car products and test a handfull of them for surface protection from the sun, as well as their ability to remove scufs from the doors and keep the doors from scuffing so bloody easily.

According to the hardback book the reason Mazda weren't able to use real aluminium for the centre console strips, is they got too hot when the car was left in direct sunlight. All you'd need is one stupid merkin to burn themselves and Mazda would be facing a class action auite for $millions.

I wondered about that - but surely they [ Mazda ] could have come up with the same carbon fibre idea that others have..
I keep getting the feeling that Mazda took a great new engine from Renesis, threw a few outsourced contractors at the "build us a car for this thing will ya" at it and at the very end rushed the "****, we forgot to sort out the interior - quick - what have we got we can put in there"..
as for merikans.. I guess if you look at the fact that they blew up and rebuilt the town that finally produced the RX8, history has a strange set of twists and turns to explain for my money.
stay tuned for the pending FAQ on what to do for the interior of your RX8 to keep it new, and then if I don't go mad writing that, one for the exterior as well - feel free to add your experiences please!

Had nightmares about the orange indicators, had decided on Winning Blue and ordered the car, got on the web that night and found conflicting images, some with the clear, some with the orange, yuuuk! (orange and blue just doesn't work) Had a sleepless night before calling the dealer and being assured that the australian version had the clear indicators, phew! Now just have to wait the final week before i pick up my baby

what ever you do - don't make my mistake of printing a calendar with a picture of your car ( there's only one good picture on the web of a Winning Blue RX8 and it's at the Renesis site - happy to send ya some of mine though * grin * ) and live through the pain of crossing off how many "sleeps" left you have - sigh - **** that made the days drag on..
But if you really feel you want to count down the last ten sleeps.. here's a must have PDF to print out [ smile ]:
http://websearch.com.au/rx8/RX8-Calendar.pdf
Where in AU are you? If you're in Sydney, PM me when you get the car and we'll hook up for a spin.. two winning blue rx8's fanging down the road.. ah.. it's just so right!
Cheers,

Curious when you get home on Friday who is getting the most attention . Wife , Family , Work. or your RX8 .
Realizing its a hard question , so take time with your reply .
You could always take car wife kids and your boss for a spin at the same time there by meeting all your obligations all in one .
HA HA HA.
