Anyone have genuine laptimes for Wakefield Park in a standard RX8. I would like to compare with times my son achieved in "chance of a Lifetime" and No Speed Limit Days at Wakefield. NO BS thanx

Hi Big Dog
Welcome to the forum. First, I hope you and/or your son might come to the RX-8 Nats, which are being held at Wakefield on October 21-23. We are using www.rx8club.com.au for most discussion. Here is the link
There have been a few claims about RX-8 times there, but no official time slips have been posted to verify. The claims are:
Glen Butcher (rx-8club.co.uk), who drove an auto around the track (and posted a video) for a best time of 1:17:99
Ric Shaw, who is reported to have driven his modified (ECU, suspension, wheels/tyres) 8 for a lap time of 1:13
And Michael Taylor, editor of Motor magazine, reported Ric Bates ran a time of 1:12:68 in a stock RX-8 as part of the magazine's "Bang For Your Buck" tests in 2003.
Those are the claims. Personally, I reckon getting below 1:15 on stock tyres is really, really difficult

Rod Evans ran a 1.14.9 back in March.I did 1.15.6.Hard to compare times at Wakefield, track temperature makes a huge difference here, variations of a second or so are common.

Thanks for the info...I wasn't convinced with Motor's times either, seem about 5 seconds too quick, but Bates is a pro driver.......can't be that much quicker than Cameron McConville, (his times were as expected). Regards Big Dog
Nice to see some manners and polite conversations...some of those yank forums are rather objectionable.

My calculator suggests Bates is only a little over 2 secs quicker than Rod Evans' time. Factoring in his pro skills and the possible variance from track temp as suggested by Len, it doesn't seem out of the ball park IMHO.
What were McConville's times Big Dog?
