Which Type-R are u refering to?
If it's Integra Type-R then RX8 was beaten by it on Bestmotoring at Tsukaba Circuit in japan.
But don't take me Wrong though. RX8 is nice. And i'm getting a Black JDM RX8 in Indonesia :D
But damnit I drive the Z in Melbourne and my dad drive the RX8 at Indonesia :p

Rx8dude,
Welcome to the forum
**ON THE TRACK** Quarter mile the rx8 can take the Type R, Even a lightly moded one.
I took one and was ahead half a car length.. this comment is based on my one and only experience against a type r so it could be that the driver was not having a good day.
Regards
Phillip

Apart from the 8, I have a 2001 DC2 Type R and initial feelings are that the 8 is quicker in a straight line, but throw in a few corners and the Type R is a real weapon- Love the way it handles around corners Downside is the harsh ride
The 8 being 250-odd kgs heavier doesn't help its cause and the brakes although great, I believe are not as good as the Type R's- again, the extra weight does not help.
For the Type R's price, there aren't a lot of cars which will keep up with it around corners anyway... Motor mag did a compo between a My02 WRX, 200sx and DC2 Type R- the biggest comment was the fact that even though it was slowest in a straight line, point-to-point (And in the wet), the Type R was clearly on top.
Overall though, the 8 is much better car to live with :D
