Satellite Navigation in Australia ?

OK First post.....be gentle.
I am trying to find out whether I can fit satellite navigation to my baby.
Does anyone have it fitted or know some brands to look into, or even better somewhere to go or a web address ?
Approximate costs would be handy also.
Cheers

If Mazda Australia pull their finger out & allow the factory Sat/NAV system to be optioned on the RX-8 down under, you should be able to do a retro-fit

Even if you can fit it ... where do you find the DVD data that fits the Sat Nav from Mazda?

I would say a Tom Tom is better. I think Tom Tom is the best!

Or a DVD sat nav as a 1-DIN unit and buy a 1 DIN bracket from R Magic (do a search on it)... and may work the same!

Hell will freeze over before Mazda releases their Nav system down here. (I thought that about the sunroof too though....)

Go for an aftermarket system if you are really keen.

If you have a PDA already, my opinion...CoPilot Bluetooth receiver and software. Bar none the best software.

I use a navman with my PDA (HP hx4700) and have found it great... costly, but very useful. Also transportable...

I'm currently using a navman 510. pretty good unit, however sometimes it's a little slow. I've also used the 630 which was far better and more accurate, however it's twice the price, and doesn't have touch screen or internal battery like the 510.

I've also heard good reviews about the Tom tom unit.

we enquired about doing the factory retrofit indash when we ordered our car- We got a quote from MA - ~ $15 grand..... the entire dash has to be replaced, and rewired...

we currently use a Garmin Ique M5 for Sat Nav. in our car, and it's pretty OK... I'm not 100% happy with the time taken to gain satelite lock on some occasions though.
