"Screwed" again!!!
Well exactly 15 days after replacing 4 tyres I'm up for another one!!!
Another screw through the sidewall!!! Found it this morning, still inflated, took it to Beau's who pronounced it dead. THen proceeded to tell me that with their insurance it would have been free to replace and then I said that since their price was $394 vs 305 I paid, I was still in front...... seemed to confuse them!
So back to Baulkham Hills and with a bit of luck the "fancy purchase" insurance that came with an ridiculously expensive credit card might actually pay off!!!
However I thought a rant was still in order!!!!!!!
What was interesting was that the Beau's guys said that they have been inundated with puntures from screws of late. Blamed new development in the area and all the building / roadworks happening on or around a lot of our major roads!
Roll on the 13th I need to blow off some steam

I had a great big bolt through one of my rear tyres a couple of weeks ago and replaced both rears only..
Now I am having a few minor DSC issues... As Gomez recommended, I am going to get the new rears put on the front and wear out the older tyres asap so that I can have four new tyres.. But mike's message just depressed me..

First time it was at least 1.5cm above the point where the road touched the tyre. How it got there remains a mystery. Not put in by human hand without a hammer!! (locked garage, no dodgy parking?? Happened in transit or on parking at a corporate garage)
This one was right on the curve, and so rubbed against the side wall and it's apparently impossible to repair at this point.
Ill post a photo at some stage.
Mike
XXUP New tyres are good!! Hoping that the card insurance is also good!!

So sorry to hear about the tyre death. I agree with the theory of building work. I use a side street and some guys put up a colourbond fence.....I drove by admiring the fence and then some time later found a huge tech screw in the tyre.....took it to the tyre guys and it was DOA....had to buy another one and then 2 days later...whammo same bloody thing. I fixed it by buying a whole new set of mags and tyres...I was angry...spending a couple of thou made me feel better... Chicks logic!!

I can only assume that it was sitting on the edge of a manhole cover or similar ruddy great hole in the road, otherwise how did it end up so far up the sidewall.

And a flame thrower for tubby fluoro-clad treddlie-pilots who decide they're going to save the planet and lose weight by riding to work in peak hour, thus ensuring everyone behind them in the left lane travels at the pace of a slow jog while looking for an opportunity to pass.

Actually, I don't mind cyclists usually. I raced them for years as a teenager and my old man still trains regularly. However, putting in bus lanes to get my big blue Merc to work in the morning is kinda negated by said bus lanes being clogged up with slow moving breathless types. Shames we don't have the room to give them their own lane.
