Series 2 RX8 Revealed

I do like the new front end and the wheels ... less fussy than the current ones
Front end looks like the civilian friendly version of the current Mazdaspeed kit
Integrated foglight is a nice touch

The wheels are really really great looking IMHO, I am definitely gonna be looking out to get a set to replace the current ones

The new graphic on the gauges are looking pretty schmick as well

Well, the only thing I liked was the seats (always thought ours lack lateral support).
Seeing they're only an option, I'm not jumping for joy.
I think the new front end is overly fussy on an already busyish design. Ditto the wheels (assuming they're not just a concept still for show purposes).
Don't mind the rear end but it's pretty same same, so no surprises there.
We all should wait until we see it in the metal though. Photos can be very deceiving...

Love the real tail lights but the front bar is a little too busy.
Kind of looks like they took the current rear taillights and took all those busy parts and slapped em all over the front end of the car.
I like the more bucketed seats, but really whats the point without a power increase? Although it does **** me off that i slip and slide on the leather seat when taking a corner...
The steering wheel is yuck. Reminds me of the 350z.
And the rims look like the new WRX rims. Ugly.
I like the sharpness of the front end though.
The car looks a little more aggressive now but probably not enough to make me want to buy it.
Having said that it always sucks to have the superseded model. Unless you're a WRX owner.

I think it gives it a bit of a refresh, without departing to radically. Have to see it in the flesh, though.
I wonder if the ICE system has been updated to include Bluetooth and an aux-in as standard?

Anyone notice the 3 point strut bar and the changed shift pattern. I hazzard a guess that the changed pattern = changed gearbox.
Love the seats and would be about the only thing I would want to carry forward to my car (Unless the easy access dip stick is too

Doesn't look too bad, I think it'll grow on me over time but I still prefer teh current shape. The rear lights look more modern but I'm not a fan. Front indicators remind me a bit of Porsche 997.
Loving the interior, minus steering wheel. Notice all the controls are on the left side only?

I cannot believe that they have put the rear light reflectors slightly above the exhaust , knowing the amount of heat and oil burning capabilities of the rotary engine , the rear light reflectors will crack and melt specially if fitted with a bigger aftermarket exhaust .
I predict the sales of the tarted up version 2 RX8 will be dismall , and Mazda will loose a lot of the rotary buyers to other brands in the next few years people will get frustrated awaiting the possibility of a 16 X ROTARY REPLACEMENT
Cheers

Gotta have those rear lights - luv them! Interior looks stunning with the recaro seats. Wonder if Mazda decided to put a proper Oil Pressure gauge in this one. Not too keen on the front - looks a little too busy.

Just saw the dash pics - looks like the Oil-P hasn't made it to Series 2!

When Mazda updated the Series-IV RX-7 to the Series-V, sales went up before slowing again a few years later.
When Mazda updated the Series-VII RX-7 to the Series-VIII, (Japan only) sales went up & stayed strong until its demise in 2002.
Whilst there are some that dont like it & others that will. The Series-II RX-8 will attract new buyers, Series-I buyers & pick up sales again.
Very unlikely they will be as strong as the 60,000 sold in 2003 alone. Hopeful they will pick up on the 17,000 (estimate) sold in 2007.
