Shipping from Brunei to Oz

Is there any workshop in Oz that can repair my 8? I got problem with "system lean" - https://www.rx8club.com/series-i-tech-garage-22/p0171-system-too-lean-78270/. I just wondering how much it would cost me to ship my car to Oz.

Won't it be easier to send you ECU to Japan? I presume yours is the JDM version. Australian engine tune may be a bit different for emission purposes.

What about Singapore or KL Malaysia? It'll probably be cheaper to take it to these countries. Take a flatbed truck through Sarawak and maybe there is a Mazda dealer in Kuching. If no one can help you in Kuching... take a ferry to Sg or KL.

Shipping to Aust I suggest taking it to Darwin. Closest to your area. I am sure there is a good Mazda dealership in Darwin.

I'll only do this when i couldn't confirm what parts are malfunction. Actually in Brunei that emission kind of things are not a big issue.

My guess is that it would be cheaper to fly out a Mazda tech and the diagnostic equipment than to ship the whole car the other way.. The Mazda tech would probably welcome the chance to travel overseas for free...

Sorry, I didn't go to the link in your first post but assuming your car is still under warranty, isn't this Mazda's problem to sort out??

I've void the warranty long ago. The dealer is not responsible & bad aftersales services.

Don't you have a rotary mechanics in Brunei?

I think it is a long journey to get a shipment to Australia - it maybe cheaper to buy a wreck or even a new car

Sorry to hear about the problem BTW

Seriously, I don't know where this info is coming from!

I've never had anything bad to say about service centres in Oz. Actually, I highly recommend the service centres I take my car to. Prompt service and no hazzles. Being in a country that's not over-populated tends to generate more "customer care" factor... less customers = more time diagnosing faults or problems. Service centres here are also very courteous and will also keep you updated. What more could you want?

NB: Just my personal experience with Subaru , Toyota, Mazda and Holden.

I think yiksing is referring to the lower hp numbers for the Australian RX-8s (as compared to JDMs), not the level of service rendered by the dealers/service centres in Australia

ooopppsss... never knew Brunei had JDM spec.

Misread... "I'll only do this when i couldn't confirm what parts are malfunction."

Thought "If you don mind lower performance then OZ is ok, I think its better to send it back to Jap." referred to Aust technicians unable to diagnose fault.

I am more enlightened!

Fab_8 is absolutely right by what I meant, I would never say things like OZ mechanics suck or anything simply because my 5 years in Western Australia has been a pleasant experience and motorsport there has never been better. However fuel is the only problem, its a bit pricey and lower octane. Higher octane simply means more agressive timing thus more power. Since he got it from Jap therefore it is better to get it back there.

I agree totally. V8 Supercar Series is the perhaps the best series in touring car racing worldwide. It's an even field... comes down to talent. Ohhh... they also drive real racing cars... 3 pedals, a real gear stick and no ABS or traction control which is the best part. Those bingles are a bonus as well .

BTW... Taka still need you to write a 1000 word essay by next year!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Mark Skaife (If I remember correctly) is just way cool man!!! I love it when they do the partially track layout time attack thing before the race starts to determine position

there are a few rotary workshops here in sydney that will be more than happy to supply you a "worked" 13B Renesis engine for your 8.

there is

QLD:
Mazfix
etc.

NSW:
MazSport
Rotormaster
PacMan
SimplyMaz
City Performance
etc.

Vic:
Rank Rotary
etc.

go to www.yellowpages.com.au or ww.whitepages.com.au and get their website and/or contact details.

contact them directly and work out a plan then go from there.

Ok yiksing,

I gather the explanation but I have to tell you that the JDM renesis is the same as the OZ renesis but just the tune is different. I think the JDM car claims 7kw more power but there are so much variation in power between cars - It may not necessary true . Just see MissyK's car.

I'm cool with everything you said, we are all entitled to our opinions. Just trying to help RX_Brunei coz it really sucked not being able to drive our 8, plus his is the first one in Brunei.

If you are interested, I can pass on a message to a Rotary mechanic I know who is in KL and would be happy to travel to Brunei. But if the problem requires sepcialist renesis equipment then you would (as people have mentioned) have to ship the car to KL.
