Post Side Strakes

During the Phillip Island trip some of you expressed interest in getting together to buy side strakes and other bits and pieces. I can't see a thread about it yet so I thought I would start one up. If we get together we might be able to get a better deal. I want to start off with side strakes so let's see who is interested in putting together an order (obviously this relates to Melbourne RX8ers only). A number things we need to sort out:

1. Where to purchase. I know of this UK mob here (thanks to MissyK for this link). Someone mentioned a US supplier of these as well.

2. Volume. If you are interested, reply here and we can work out what sort of volume we can order.

3. Price. We'll sort out who the suppliers are then try to organise a volume discount.

4. Logistics. I'm in Glen Iris so we can use my address for the delivery and everyone can pick up from there or if there is a more convenient address, then we can use that.

5. Payment. I guess we would have to pay whoever is going to order them before the order is placed. I guess the order will come from whoever is going to get the delivery.

So if anyone else is interested, let me know here. If there is already a thread on this and I have missed it, please let me know the link (and/or bump it).

Cheers,

Vangelis

Sorry about the link. Have fixed it now but the one posted by MissyK is correct anyway. The American strakes listed by auzoom seem to be plastic. The aluminium ones are $US220 as opposed to about $US130 for the UK ones (stainless steel). Anyone know of any other suppliers? I am willing to organise the order and delivery to my place where they can be picked up from. So if there are others interested, let me know.

Well, can't beat that price. I'll take them. If anyone else has any strakes to sell, just post here and I'm sure they'll sell just as quickly. I guess someone had better take the lead on this now. I'm still willing to organise the strakes for the rest of the people that want to buy them - it's up to the others to decide.

Cheers,

Vangelis

Vangelis, the aluminium ones I believe are the actual Mazda OEM ones.

If you must have aluminium/ss then feel free to pay an extra $50US, I personally dont see the point in paying extra for more weight.

Also, if you want the colour coded strakes then you cant get them from there.

Rexi, what else you got hiding in that little garage of yours

Cheers

Andrew

I have purchased these from this supplier for my car. They are highly polished stainless steel, easy to fit and look great.

Very prompt delivery after ordering.

Cheers.... Otto

Julia, are you talking about the strakes in general? the color coded ones I got you had to screw into the vent plastic.

Thanks Andrew. I was wondering if they could easily be souvenired. (spelling sorry) Seems a shame to spend all that $$ and have some little snot take them. I have heard of people's crests going mia and I wondered if they are worth the $$. Bruce has said he will make me some....but I'm not holding my breath. My little PIA brother has said he would colour in the black plastic with silver texta. I had to make sure he didn't do this over Xmas as he had drunk lots of beers and I wouldn't put it past him!

The crests aren't that easy to nick actually. The double-sided tape they come with is pretty strong and the front one has little screws.

As for making the strakes - more time than money methinks. These aren't that exxy to buy and couldn't be simpler to fit. I think they really finish off the car and should have been OEM IMHO.

Julia, I would hold my breath either, especially as there are some funky angles needed to get them to site nice.
