Not sure about the contour - but the configuration of my CF side vent is the same.

May have to file the bottom of the stake somewhat to fit. ... nah cannot be stuffed.

You reckon it's decent carbon fibre for $89 though?

OK, so far RXP33D, Domza & Cromax are interested. I think we should wait a few more days for any other interest and organise it sometime next week. Sound like a good plan?

Of course it would be for that price!

Would the quality of the CF be any good though? I just don't go putting tacky **** on my car, that's all

Vengalis

I thought I had sent you a message about this. Looking back in my mail boxes, I obviously didn't, so, sorry.

Anyway, I had found the following as I looked about for accents and strakes.
Places checked out were:
www.mazda.com.au
www.mazdaparts.com
www.rx8-accessories.com
trussville.buymazdaparts.com/index.cfm?fuse=results&modelcode=RX8&year=2006&qry =all&showall=yes
www.rotary13b1.com/rotorAccents.html#frontAccent
www.rx8strakes.com/index.asp

Here's what I've found, all prices have been converted to AUD.
US conversion as 1.3 and GBP as 2.3

front crest rear crest strakes wing combo
Mazda 107 130 448 509

mazdaparts 78 91 256 422
rx8-accessories 140 168 292 (front crest & strakes)
trussville 71 85 253 390
rotary13b1 46 31 94 (front and rear crests)
rx8strakes 91 104 298

I'm interested in getting the accents and strakes but maybe not the wing since the postage would probably be $100 fromn Trusville anyway.

whoops. Sorry guys. The numbers seem to be gibberish now, though I added the appropriate number of spaces to make the table look right.

Try this

....................front crest ....rear crest ..strakes.... wing.........combo
Mazda..............107 ............130 ..........448 ............509
mazdaparts.......78............. 91........... 256............ 422
rx8-accessories.140........................... 168............................ 292
trussville.............71........... 85.......... 253...............390
rotary13b1........ 46........... 31................................................ .94
rx8strakes......... 91.......... 104.......... 298

I have read from rotary13b1 that they will be making strakes sometime soon.

Carbon also has its limitations longterm. It doesn't deal with heat very well and becomes brittle with age.

I've raced on some all carbon yachts and have been in the vicinity of one when its mast went. When this stuff fails, it doesn't do it gently.

Hi guys,

i was telling andrew in regards to the Aluminium strakes
that i have, which will be imported in by late Feb,
at resonable price.

i will pass on some to Andrew (auzoom) and maybe u guys
can take a look at it on cruise meeting before considering to buy.

i can do the carbon fibre one as well,
but the strake wont be made of alumium, it will be fibre glass,
as carbon fibre matt dont hold well on metal surfaces.

Ok ... so, how much is a reasonable price?

I was amazed at how much the cost of the OEM ones have come down in cost this year!

That is correct! I will be test fitting some sample sets at the end of next week. The material will be polished aluminum.

Do we have an ETA as to how long it'll be until you're able to sell them?

I got my accents and strakes. Yay. Looks lovely.

The accents were fixed with double sided sticky tape. I hope they don't get nicked.

The strakes were screwed into the side grilles. The instructions said to pop the grilles out from the bottom first, but they were easier to start from the top. If on putting it back, they didn't pop back in, try pushing the tabs out with a screwdriver so it stick out a little more and engage the edge of the grille hole.

Sample sets arrived yesterday. I will be test fitting them on an 8 this weekend. They're actually VERY nice, Aluminum of course, with the exception of the finish not being fully polished/finished due to my deadline. I'll actually be testing another set that's fully polished/finished next week. Then figure about 4-5weeks for the production sets to be ready for sale. I'll post up a few pics of the product later in the evening.

Buy your Accent Sets from me!

pic

Here's a pic of the samples. They're just for fitment purposes, I'm not very concerned with the finish yet, as I know it will be polished correctly when it's ready in the end.

The set will comprise of the 4 individual pieces: RU RL LU LL, 4 small brackets, and 4 hex bolts (Just like OEM). I might do a step by step install for you folks, lol, but

Feel free to email me if you have any questions. Sales AT Rotary13B1.com
