I think that their shipping cost with delivery within 8 to 10 working days is actually about $180US..

Regarding labour costs, their were none as I did the install myself.
Thanks for that rexi.

Had forgotten about onlinemazdaparts.com (they're in my favourites too).

Just had a look - MS springs and shocks for US$636 (about AUS$845). Or, you can get the MS coilovers for US$1,445 (about AUS$1,921).

That seems quite a bit cheaper than japanparts.com.

So delivery is about AUS$250.

No duty or other tax probs?

I think if anyone went down that option to buy a 2nd car for track they would be heavily involved in it.... its not cheap to attend track days either, let alone have a 2nd car to maintain. You'd be looking at spending a fair bit just to buy a decent car plus modding it.. and for wat; to have an RX8 sitting in garage to be used when???
Precisely. I did look into it and for the cost of a decent NA MX5 I can do a helluva lot to my 8 and probably get more use out of it. Storing it is also a problem at the new house.

The current way I'm thinking is that I can have fun modding the car for the street for a while and have fun on cruises, etc.

I can keep it indefinitely (even if it gets replaced as my preferred street car) and by the time the kids are older and I have a little more time, the 8 will also be older and I'll have less compunction about flinging it around a track. Hmm, does that make sense.

I'm sorry if my thinking aloud is annoying but it helps to get some feedback on this kinda stuff.

Funny how things go off on tangents. I started this thread just thinking about sussie options...

So for the springs and shocks it's just cost plus delivery and no taxes or extras?

I couldn't see even Sydney robbers charging more than $400ish for the install (or am I being optimistic here??). That would get me stiff and low for about $1,500 all up.

Mighty tempting.

I might need to look into that. With shipping costs > $1K. Without shipping costs < $1K.

Then I guess you could order the springs and shocks separately but then maybe double up on shipping costs.

Hmm , might speak to Ric Shaw and Whiteline before I make any decisions.

Mine came in 2 separate packages , one being springs and other shocks and were shipped out on different days .I requested it this way , and fortunately paid no customs tax.

Good on you Taka, after trying to remain anonymous and succeeding for so long, thanks for letting the cat out of the bag.

Regards
Rexi

Wow you go to enzed for a couple of days and Dave goes crazy with the Amex!!!

Having read page 1 & 4 if you haven't made the leap yet is there a group buy in the offing?? Is Kal's idea of locally sourced product not viable?

M

I know i should read the other two pages but i can't be arsed.
