Look up the enkei website, it has weights for the racing wheels like the rp03's. I think it was around 20 pounds, so not much less than stock.

My 19's (19x8.5) weigh 9.3kg. The stock was weighed at 10kg. So about a 8% saving in weight at a bigger size. I was happy with that. Taka's 18's (RP03's as well) weighed 8.8kg

The 19's cost me all up $650 (australian) per wheel.

Sounds like a better value for money deal than the exxy stuff I've been looking at.

Obviously, if you want to get under 7.5kgs you need to rob a bank. :D

Came across these in my travels (MazdaSpeed MS-01 Mag). Apparently developed by Ray's and MazdaSpeed for the last RX7. Anybody heard of them being used on the 8 and whether or not you can still buy them??

Whoa, just answered my own question.

See http://adrenalineracing.com/product_...efcadffea24ef9

At $US1,500 per wheel ( ) they can keep 'em.

Damn, the more I look the higher the prices get!!!

I am flat out controlling this beast without a turbo... :D :D :D

Anyway - I am only helping Revolver to spend his excess cash... Wheels look pretty, but turbos go pretty and in a stealthy way - ie picture WRX wally at the lights, when Revolver plants his apparently ordinary grey RX-8 with the Wastegate closed.... :D :D :D

It's a typical Barrister (and Zorro) tactic guide them along then hit them when and where they least expect it.. Can't do that with blingy wheels.. :D :D :D

Thanks xxup but my wife and kids already do a very good job spending my excess cash (as does the ATO)!!!

And I left TLGP's behind long ago. I'm more than happy to watch the WRX bandits roar off into the distance, content in the knowledge that I'm not driving a FUGLY car. :D

FI can wait until the warranty is up (about 2 years to go for moi).

You can order them. Last quote $4200 installed and balanced on the 18x8.5"

Go for the TE37.

I went for cheap option for street wheel - don't want too much bling otherwise there will be too much ding from the jealous people on the street. So Stu and I went for the Enkei - which is classy but not out there. They are casted wheel but modified by special technique that is currently coped by BBS and RacingHart on their cast wheels. 8.8kg for a set of cast wheel which cost just over $2K is very nice buy - thanks Stu !

I will get some second hand ones now if I were you Revolver - it is less painful running them on curbs. Some 2nd hand are very decent and without scratch, at a reasonable price.

I am going to myself a light set of wheel for track semislick - just to keep up with Stu and his suspension set up :D

I'm looking for some secondhand TE37's at the moment but finding the Mag's is difficult. Eric thought he had found some but they turned out to be 17's.

I'm patient - it's no burning issue. The right set will turn up eventually.

Once I get my bung ankle moving right to enable me to 'heel & toe' you had better believe it young Taka :D

And I am making progress in that endevour. I maybe limping a bit at the moment but I am forcing some flexibility into the joint. Heel & toe here I come :D

And to keep it on topic... I agree Revolver, stay patient. If they are what you want then the wait will be worth it.

Besides weight Dave,

The bling factor is very important and please do not swing one way or the other by people's option on look. I think it is very personal.... and make sure you are comfortable with the look of it.

Stu,

Young Taka will wait for you.

Rev,
This thread has me looking for Te's as well. If you get a price let me know we might be able to group buy, have been looking for second hand as well, they tend to come in on the imports and get stripped off by the yards. Found 2 sets of 17"s!!! Very annoying!!! $1200 +1500 respectively!
Anyone heard of these?

There were a few different varieties?

magnesium wheels serve no purpose on a street car

only a pro race team or someone with money to burn can justify the expense, the performance impact over SSR's would be zilch on a street car

I won't rag you over it though, best wishes

Thanks for the advice. I appreciate a straight shooter.

Mike,

Mu's Secret has quoted me $4,200 for rims alone (new of course). Still waiting on other quotes to come in.

Eric has been busily finding leads on second hand wheels for me, which I'm gonna follow up today (thanks Eric ).

Will keep you posted. However, somehow I don't think only 2 of us is gonna change the price terribly much.

4200 could buy you a (neat) used set of volks in 19s with good pilot sport 2 tread....

TEMPTING!
