Sunlight Silver vs Aluminium Fuel Door
Don't need to be flamed on either of my cosmetic choices.
I'm putting my alloy fuel door on my "new" Ti. (amongst other things)
QUESTION: is the sunlight silver colour close to the alloy fuel door colour??
I'm going to pick up a couple of the resin strakes, as I had the alloys before and like the idea of lighter version (less likely to fall off).
Considered the Ti colour ones but wondered if that would look odd with the alloy door. Think chrome strakes would also look odd.
I could paint the door and that might be the solution, (good excuse to buy a compressor and a small gun!)
Anyone with a sunlight car and alloy fuel door?

Mike, is the fuel door a matt or polished finish?
the matt version is closer to SS than TG.
but imo, i think it'd look alot nicer on the TG than the SS.
make sure you use etch primer if you are going to "colour code" the alloy fuel door and streaks ;-)

hey mate, I have a sunlight silver RX8 and just installed the stainless steel strakes from http://cgi.ebay.com/Mazda-RX8-Air-Ou...QQcmdZViewItem and they look fantastic. It took me about 30 mins to install both sides.
Let me know if you want pics.

Mike, I have the alloy fuel door and the alloy/plastic (Mazda) strakes.
Let me know if you want a look. I'm trying to get to the cruise on 12/3. Otherwise, drop me a PM.
Personally, IMHO, the alloy look for both door and strakes looks great on the Ti. I reckon the chrome numbers look a bit chintzy (on Ti). Anyways, this is all subjective stuff - whatever you like the best is best for you.

I agree the US one looks better (and is much better value). If I had my time over again with that mod, that's the one I would have got.
And I'm working on getting there on the 12th.

Thanks guys, back to "plan a" which is to put the door on, get over it and order some unpainted strakes. I'll colour match as best i can to the door here.
Now where did i put my pms colour book (thats pantone...leave it!)
Might impulse grey the lot when the kit comes along!

I saw somewhere in Rosenthal Mazda US has a central opening fuel door.
Like Audi TT, has a silver rim and the centre part opens.
The Mazda one puts me off since the whole things open it look very ugly and cheap when you open that at the petrol station...
