just want to get a general idea how much it will cost...
would about $200 (i'm assuming it will take several hrs..) be right for F/R install?

The fitting of the rear is easy the front takes a lot longer and at times its fidly .
Dan you are right i would not attempt the front one on my own , get a good mechanic with patience

$150 is a bloody rip off!
My mechanic did the front and rear sway, front and rear strut and brake pad change (in 4 hours). He charged me $220.
He spends most time for the strut actually.
It only take an hour to do the sway, even without any menu to help. Prob my mechanic is superquick . I heard some Aussie mechanics chat on his phone half the time during install and they charge their time for it I prefer someone concentrate on their work and explain to me what they are doing.

Michael,
Been up in KL, just saw your post,
GC property developers shouldn't throw stones,
if you didn't have my sway bars held hostage, I might suggest that I could bring you a fresh pair of white socks to go with the sandles.........
(Great picture though!!)
Cheers (and can't figure out if my kids are more excited about hitting the parks than I am about collecting my toys........counting the sleeps!!!)
Mike
And on pricing my local guy quoted about a $100 to fit mine.... i.e. about an hour.

this is the price I got from the MRT performance in Rhodes.
Thankyou for your query. Most Swaybar fittings is between $50-$100 per bar. SO
Your car should be less than $200 to fit your indicated swaybar.
less than $200? so does that mean $199 ???

btw can anybody recommend a workshop in Sydney?
MRT is not too bad since it's quite close to me but if there are cheaper and good installer, I would like to go there instead.

Got mine today, cheers L&L.
Question - my swaybars only have two holes at each end. Does that mean I have adjustables or non-adjustables? I thought the adjustable swaybars had three ride settings to choose from, which to me would imply three holes?

Glad to see you got them you should spend more time at home instead of flying around the place , i put mine on the hardest ride setting meaning the hole closest to the bar .
Took it for a hard drive around my stomping ground and their is a definite improvement in the handling of the corners

Guys, I've got mine fitted this morning @ 7:30am (yikes) from MRT Performance in Rhodes.
they specialise in Whiteline swaybars i think.
pricing was $140 for both F/R installation.
although I had to wait until nearly 10am to get the car back (maybe they were working on other cars at the same time..), overall their service and price is okay i think. plus they put a big fat MRT sticker on the inner door and above the mazda emblem at the back. :D i think I will leave it there for now
ok, impression...
installing swaybar made driving the 8 a lot better :D i just drove about 15 minutes to work and didn't take it extreme but even the short drive to work, I can still feel a huge difference in the body roll while cornering. overall a big thumbs up.

I got my swaybars installed a few days ago. After some initial hessitation, my Mazda dealer did it for me. Only charged $120 which I was happy about.
I'm happy with the mod. There is effectively no body roll at all with the swaybars. As a result the steering in and out of corners feels more precise. The car also feels more balanced. There feels like less inertia being thrown to the outside of the corner and as a result, the car is less prone to understeer than it was before.

I have found my rear sway refuses to stay centred. It seems to work itself a couple inches off centre and then stays there.
Have re-adjusted it a couple of times and upped the torque setting to maximun factory speck but still after a couple of days of spirited driving there it is sitting those couple of inches off to the passenger side.

ILIV48, I have found the same thing. I had them fitted last Thursday and brought them back to the mechanic and he noticed that the rears have shifted to passenger side. How do we fix this??

I have pm,ed you.
Guys i did notice that the original mazda sway bars had a ring type stopper on either side of the swaybars rubber bush mountings , if you have your old ones have a look at them , they would have been placed there to help stop the sideways movement that you guys have noticed .
Unfortunately the WHITELINE SWAY BARS dont have these as stock.
I just checked mine and can not see any side movement on the rears , need better tightening .
cheers

I'm not game to tighten mine anymore. Already up to 23 (from the 17-23 Mazda Stated) and after the last first time when the bolt snapped I really am not wanting to tighten anymore.
I am going to try a home fix first. Have just been out shopping for some 18mm High density rubber hose and some stainless steel clamps. I plan to put a small piece of the hose onto the swaybar at the inside edge of each bush. Then I will put the clamp around the rubber hose and tighten. I also bought some engine enamel spray paint the same colour as the sways to paint the hose & the clamp.
I have been thinking about this for the last couple of weeks.
With some luck this will be/act like the factory ring type stopper, and with some luck painted the same as the swaybar will not look too out of place.

I have actually just spoken with whiteline myself. Looks like they have a fix for this situation. They are going to send me some special clamps in the mail to try out. If it works I will let you all know. If it works all you'll have to do is contact whiteline and they'll do the same for you.
They also said once the nuts holding the bushes have made good contact with the metal bracket trying to tighten more will not cause the bush to clamp any harder on the swaybar, so do not over tighten!!!!
Soon as I get the package I will install and let you all know ASAP.
Cheers
