Taka's new hobby

Compare this from Peter Kotsa this month's Sandown

To this - My shots from Honda Sport car club day at Winton

Am I even close to Peter in terms of skill?

More pics here!

Yes,

I have a Canon 300D and he has a Canon Mark 1D
PK has told me the settings - Use Speed priority mode.

I had them at 1/200th sec and chase the car and shot at the same time. So most of the blur you see is when I am not in sync with the speed of the car travelling. Some of it does go out of focus for the car - wrong focal length and stuff.

The contrast is off too. I should bring the exposure compensate down and get more contrast.

EZZY get the new 350D it is a great camera and similar to 20D which cost $1000 more.

It really doe's not take you long at all mate. I mean we did not leave Winton until after 3.30pm so by the time we were all home, and you have a little one to say hello to, I have come to the conclusion you must not sleep!

I got home sat in the recliner and did nothing for the rest of the night

Not bad pics but I think Peter's still safe for a while

I love that top shot with the air under the front left.

I know nothing about photography but as the old saying goes, I know what I like. Aside from clarity, his composition and subject matter seems better. Maybe you should get yourself to one of the corners and play with different angles instead of just profile shots.

That is the way Revolver... be consistent from now.

Hey that is a fair comment - I will take a note for next time.

Hmmm maybe yes. It only took me an hour to do all the pics. Coz there were so much crap :o

We went for dinner for two and coffee and did not go home until 7pm. Played with the little one and look at the pic quickly for some great shot and change their size - I don't have a chance to readj the contrast!

The little kept playing until 11 and sound asleep after then.

Ok it does have higher RAM and can take 5 shots per second....

I rather have $1000 for a 15-90 EF-S lens that is all.

Guy's i have the 350D, damn fine, won plenty of awards for those into that sort of thing. The 20D certainly is fine but an extra $1K.

Traded in my old Canon A1...that dates me!!

My little bro makes a quid or two with his camera and is a 10D man at the mo, about to 20D up but loves the 350D.

Notice no one has used the "N" word yet???

Ezzy if you can buy it OS, you can pick up up in HK for about $1k with the standard lens. I paid about NZ$1500 from a parallel import mob here. (not just cars!!)

Or these guys have a great reputation and ship all over the world. Check out the Mack warranty options http://www.bhphotovideo.com
Adrian has bought lens and had shipped fine to Sydney.

AND OT.....Taka looks bloody good, well done!!!!

Thanks for the info.

In HK they are HK$6000 for body and HK$7200 for package with a Sigma long range lens. So it is about $AUD1050 body and AUD$ 1250 for package. It is not much difference

Taka, you can probably do better in person than those prices, I got offered the 2 lens pack with Canon lens at Onesto on Kimberly Rd for about 1200AUD. Was stupid and didn't buy it at the time and didn't get back up there, so bought in Auckland!!!
Was about 6 months ago??

Picked up the Sigma 70 -200 at Chadstone (yep!) at Teds for $249! Happy about that!! Better than the cheap canon lens but am lusting after a faster canon lens.

Oh yeah forgot the Yen dropped since last year ...

Yeah the prices are HK prices last year - you are right it may have dropped. I broght mine 300D body for HK$6000 (AUD$1000 then) and a EF 50mm lens for $680 (AUD $100). Picked up a 15-50 lens for A$100 via eBay. But the package back then still sells HK$7200. And 20D was HK$11000. The camera was more expensive in HK than Macau.

I still want a Canon EF-S 15-90mm if I could. Better and faster autofocus. Last time I check with my wife's uncle in Macau, they are HK$4000.

Mike HK is not cheap anynore :o.... except for car parts , oh and computer product and CF cards too. They are half price as listed here. Australia is doing very well otherwise in popular products - especially iPod prices are very close to the Asian prices.

ILIV48, all you need is to add that photo of Taka from the nats where he's sitting outside with his shorts on and that photo will be gold!

Heyz Taks,

I almost got H's parents to get me a 350D with Canon 50mm f/1.8 and a
Tamron 28-75mm f/2.8 XR Di LD Aspherical (IF) Macro.....

Ran out of time.... guess it's a little blessing in disguise - the exchange rate increased 5% in our favour in the mean time....

What lenses are you using?
