I guess its useful to monitor your engine's compression (especially for the FI guys) over the years of use. But like you said it is mainly just a nice toy to have, at a fraction of the cost that other rotary testers retail for.

yeah it's nice to know your motor has good compression however the knowledge is not much use. it's either good, ok or bad. it's not like I'm going to rebuild my motor just because it is a little down on compression. I will just live with it.

still if I was under warranty it would tempt me then the rebuild cost is someone else's issue

yes, but if you know your motor is going downhill, funding can be planned/budgeted for the inevitable rebuild down the road.

if only we had the engine/drivetrain warranty that the US guys get.

If you are one with your car you won't need a tool to tell you if it is down on power.

well my butt dyno must not be as effective in monitoring decreases in engine compression as yours... maybe i should save my money and buy a more sensitive butt. anyways i think we all agree this is a useful...toy, that is all.
since my initial interest i have purchased a new tomtom gps so i think thats enough toy purchases for the next month.
