Two turbo Kit choices or 1 ???

Hi guys , as I have a kit that may be offered for production , I had a couople of questions

An affordable option that bolts up to the stock exhaust running medium boost
AND

The current design which has a custom tuned exhaust with a low and high boost option

Here's the link https://www.rx8club.com/showthread.p...=1#post1096801

Comments appreciated

Thanx heaps

Dave

I reckon you should go with one that can bolt up to the std exhaust. people that already have an expensive cat back wont like having to scrap some of it.

you should consider selling just manifolds and turbos, so people can use whatever engine management, exhaust and intercooler they want.

here is my 2c's worth....
having previously done a similar thing in a piston engined mazda, i'd suggest to at least offer 1 x full exhaust-less/stage 1 package, which should inc. turbo/manifold, intercooler, pipings, ecu/wiring and all accessories required. trust me, it is often more difficult and huge pain in the backside to find a matching intercooler, pipings and ecu for the setup, also, how can the supplier offer a warranty if you have opted to go for a different ecu and intercooler setup. remember, everything must go hand in hand.... right ciao?
however, at the end of the day, it doesnt matter whether you have a factory exhaust/hymee/HKS/milo can setup... once the turbo kit is bolted on, a dyno tune is a must to make sure there are no vacumm/boost leak, and have a quick tune of the ecu to make sure of the air flow/air-fuel ratio/boost, etc....

and if ciao have time, then a stage 2 package would be a good idea. there are must be ppl like me NEEDING boost fix asap, and once you have experienced the FI'd cars, you WONT be happy with one setting... (i have started with 7psi, went onto 12psi, then upto 17psi until i blew the gearbox, 3rd gear and so on) the feeling of getting pushed back in the seat is AWESOME, and you will NEVER get enough of it, hence the tunability of the ECU with multi boost stage is a must for me
therefore, larger injectors, fuel pump maybe required for this stage 2 setup.

another thing is.... how can you be sure that this will be a reliable setup, and produce the results quoted. rotormaster have done so with turbo, didnt like it, so went with the supercharger option.... and so far so good (except for the price)

hymee on the other hand is getting his setup ready, so without getting my fingers out, you have 3 other competitions in the australian market.... and last time i heard, there are at least other 2 rotary shops R&D'ing FI setups.....

competition is a good thing, keeps everyone honest and the consumer will benefit at the end of the day.... im all for australian made/locally produced items, so when i go FI, i will go with one of the aussie made packages..... unless i marry the daughter of either mr. HKS/mr. Greddy/mr. RE etc j/k

thats all i have to say for now....

The bolt on stock exhaust is a must do ..Ive already had a couple of enquiries on suppling a kit as such ..

The beauty of my kit is that most parts will be interchangable / upgradable to the stage 2 kit ..the transition is painless .

My car ,the stage 2 will be on offer for those who must have sideways action ... Still, pricing will be well below the current Australian FI units available ( including custom tuned exhaust )

In terms of splitting up the kit ....I see further tuning issues as I have personally spent thousand of $$$$ developing the right combination ..Using my entire kit would be so much more cost effective for people.....tuning can cost more than the parts .... much more
Ive done the expensive bit ,,all you need to do is leave your car with me for a few days

If I get a group buy ,,Say 5 STg1 kits ,the price can come down even more !!

My car is Stage2 ...You gotta drive it !! Its almost too fast ( never too fast ) in that video ..I accelerate away from the other car like it was standing still..And that was not fully tuned ...I am sure when peolpe drive my car they will forget about stage 1 ..and go sraight to Stg 2 He He !! j/k

BTW. we are runnung slightly over 12 psi on STg 2 ..

Hey I saw the vid..... Damn

You should do a vid and dragging a stock 8. So we can properly see how quick the turbo 1 goes.
Been there done that

Dragged a Titanium 8 yesterday ...We spoke out the front of GC mazda and showed him my kit ...He wanted to see the diff in power too . So we went on the highway ,,,and dragged to the state limit to see who was going to get there first

By the time I was out of first , I had two and a half car lengths..second , about five six maybe ,,third oops we are already at highway speeds

The power of this kit is almost double the stocks ..My initial dyno was 172 RWHP
and now we have somewhere in the vicinity of 300 RWHP Not bad

As I stated earlier ..I dragged off a V8 chrysler with nearly 450 hp at the treads

This car is a weapon ,, when you guys are up here ..take her for a spin

STg 1 wont this nuts ,we are aimimg for 250 ish RWHP

Basic ball park figures

I can tell you it'll be less than $10k for stage 2 and around $5-6k for stage 1

I think the kit options sounds great.Another thing I belive would be good if possible would be to have the option of a stock factory setting. So the vehicle would be able to be driven by the unexperienced. The car in standard form goes great anyway,so if the young brother or sister (any novice)wants to drive your car (and they have just recived there licence)they wont wrap the car round a pole.I know someone who totally smashed his Rx8 within 3 houres of owning it.He drove down a series of undulating streets (they call it the rollercoaster)and showing off to his mate got air borne totally clearing gutters and trees and ended up hitting the front wall of a house.Apparently the dealership put on too much tyre shine VERRY BELIVABLE

this is when you need a top of a range ECU to be able to do that, as well as the best tuner you can find.
sprootz, where are you from...?

Dont let new licsencees drive your 8 regardless of FI..

Stage 2 has the best of both worlds , you may have to hide the high/low boost switch from your inexperienced friends / family

Stage 1 has a more conservative boost setting but uses the same T/charger as stg2 ( for upgrade purposes )

My software will do all of this .

QUOTE]
My software will enable all of these parameters .My kit will not need to be dyno 'd so tuning is not necessary .saving you more money Dyno time is $250.00 per hour ...I know ..Ive spent thousands on the Dyno ..It hurts

Maps will be preset in the kits accordingly ,and can be ,at the owners risk manipulated by them ,just by downloading the sofware / maps on my websie ( getting biult as we speak )

Ciao, just curious - have you had any over heating problems? with low or high boost?

I noticed at the NATS (even thow they were s/c i think) most FI cars besides hymee's couldnt last the day.

To me thats not practical

thanks
