Update to my 3000GT Drag Car Project
Some of you may or may not know that I am currently building a Mitsubishi 3000GT Drag car to compete in ANDRA's new sport compact class. I will compete in the SPORT MODIFIED class which is the one class down from PRO.
The car will remain 4WD.
It is a twin turboed V6 with the aim to generate over 1000hp.
The engine is currently at Bryant Engineering for machining work before I bring it home for assembly etc.
The aim is to run between 40-50psi of boost.
My new rods are in they are custom made carillo rods.
I am awaiting for my custom JE pistons.
Compression ratio will be around 7.5:1 for the high boost levels.
The heads have been ported and will support 280hp per cyclinder.
ARE are building a new type of intercooler for me which was trialed on rob barac's evo.
It is dry ICE pellets. SO the intake temps never exceed 5 degrees C.
Here is a pic of a dummy turbo that was made so I can get the mainfolds made while I wait for the custom tubonetics turbos.

The turbo is a turbonetics T04B with a AR.48 exhaust to start with and we will adjust it to a bigger exhaust housing once it is on the engine dyno.
Each of these turbos will flow 550hp each and I will have 2 of them. As well as 2 Turbonetics Evolution wastegates, and 2 turbonetics Godzilla BOV's.

The engine bay is still in the process of being stripped down for the custom manifolds etc. But I wanted to see how much room I needed.
Here is a pic of the outside of the car.

The only thing left for the heads now is the custom billet cams.
I already have adjustable cam gears and racing lifters oversized valves, crower springs titanimun retainers.
Engine build cost to date is just over $17,000.
Components covered in that
Custom Pistons
Custom Rods
Valves
Valve Springs
Solid Racing lifters
Head porting and bench flowing
Adjustable cam gears
2 Turbonetics TO4B custom turbos
2 Turbonetics Godzilla BOV's
2 Turbonetics Evolution Wastegates
Deposit on Dry Ice intercooler
Engine Work Still to go
Crank Work
Motec M800 Computer
Billet CAMS
Custom Exhaust manifolds
Custom Intake plenum
8 x 1000CC injectors (Running methanol :D)
Billet fuel rails
3 Large fuel pumps
Fuel pressure regulators
Custom Sump (Considering Dry sump at the moment)
Other work still to go
Billet Transfer Case
Custom Dog Gears
Custom Gearbox
Custom Driveshafts
Chrome moly roll cage
Custom fuel tank
Lots of interior stuff like guages, custom dash, seats, harnesses
Major weight reduction with custom panels and a big drill :D

I am tempted to buy a spare renesis engine.
Decompress it and turbo it![Smilie](https://www.rx8club.com/images/smilies/smile.gif)
One of the jap import places in brisbane is selling them for $2,500

Good on you for taking on the challenge. Lots of good work there ... but, having built rally cars in the 70's, I hate to think about the cost!
I'll think positive thoughts about the bang for buck being there for you.

Serious work been done there - well done. you will be looking forward to finishing it.
On a similar note to you about the renesis. I have thought about buying one and putting it into an MX-5. That would certainly wake the car up!
