After carting the spacesaver spare on my recent trip and benefiting from boot space constraints (she couldn't go serious shopping) could we have a poll of Aussie members who've used the spare or had to use tyre goo?

The spare wheel of my mX5 has been collecting dust fo over 5 years. I carry a compressor and tyre goo instead which i have used a few times.

Haven't carried a spare wheel for over 10 years, it's just a dead weight.
I haven't used the Mazda goop, but as a rider I had to use a pressurised can of goop......worked great.
The guys at Bob Jane's aren't fans though, it makes a stinking mess when they carry out a permanent repair.
Mazda stipulate that a tyre replacement be carried out after using the goop....probably on health and safety grounds I reckon.
Gomez.

Is that true.. it depends on wheather the "goo"ed tyre can be repaired and reuse for a long term... I think I can make an excuse of buying Protenza S-03 or Michellin Pilot sport :D

Taka, your good mate Patrick told me the tyre needed replacement if the goop was used......the owners manual says the same thing.
Mazda's line is that if the goop used, you're up for a new tyre, full stop......I believe a number of tyre joints won't touch a gooped tyre anyway, too much mess/hard work/Occ health?.....
Keeping the pressures up and not running 'em below the tread wear indicators is the best insurance to avoid a puncture.
OZZZZY, do your guys repair a gooped tyre?

No, took my spare out after reading all about the goop. Reckon that would save my bacon most of the time.
However, did take the wheel with me to Wakefield, on account of sneaking concern that I might damage tyre and wheel. No problem though (thank goodness) :phew:
