Using cola to clean plugs
I changed my spark plugs on Sat and pondered how to clean the old plugs. After seeing how cola can clean coins, I decided using cola to clean my old plugs.
I firstly gave the plugs a clean with a steel brush and after 5 hours soaking I can see some black surface dissolving .
I hope this will work.

Good luck,
Just an advice that if you have altered the gap between the poles, the plugs are next to useless.
Me use fine sand blasting or don't be a tight *** - change the plugs.

The acid put into Coke and presumably other cola drinks is phosphoric acid, which at least has the benefit of being a source of dietary phosphate. The other acid commonly used in soft drinks is citric acid (found naturally in citrus and other fruits). The carbon dioxide put into fizzy drinks also makes them slightly acid. All drinks need to be acid so that consumers don't run the risk of botulism poisoning.
Phosphoric acid is also used (in much more concentrated form) in iron passivation formulations - it changes the chemical nature of rust, and puts a "passive", rust resistant layer on the iron or steel. I'm not sure of the composition of the ash deposit on spark plugs, so I couldn't guess what the effect of phopsphoric on these deposits might be.
Frankly, I would use sand or grit blasting to clean. I see a spark plug as an electrical device, and water is the enemy of such things. Also traces of acid left behind might assist in shorting out the plug.

hmmm, my experiment continues;
After approximately 15 hours of soaking I decided to remove the coke stain by boiling the plugs for 2 hours; Looks good.
I then remove from the water and put into a area to dry thoroughly.
To be certain I will leave it for 2 weeks.
Disclaimer: This is only an experiment to see how cola can clean me plugs. Copy at your own risk.

when i was in middle school, they passed out this flyer to all the kids about the many uses of coke. a couple that stuck out:
1. when your drain is clogged, pour a can of coke down it. the acid will remove the gunk.
2. cops have a few gallons of coke in their trunks to clean up blood from the pavement...and it works. my friend got a bloody nose and it dripped all over his drive way. he poured a can of coke on it the next day and now it's gone

Actually, cold water washes away blood pretty well. Just do it while the blood is really fresh. Then use household bleach to get rid of the last traces.
