I thought Victoria was bad, at least we only have power restrictions, look what might be happening in NSW.

"The NSW Government is currently considering curfews for all drivers under 21 years of age between 10pm and 6am. "

im finishing up on my green P's and i drove since my 1st month of my red P's without em.

Driving a RX8 with P plates around sydney is asking for trouble hehe.
I got pulled over twice for breath testing and they asked if i was a P plater. I said yes but i didnt put them on (some excuse) and because i was honest they let me go.

*oh how i was shitting my pants*

The outcome - a police blitz on speeding, drag racing with Skylines :D

The following is from the Goulburn Post.....

197km/h p-plater 'stupid and immature'
Friday, 17 September 2004

A P-PLATER pushed the accelerator too far when he drove at 197km/h on the Hume Highway to test out a new car given to him by his parents.

Richard David Salamon, a 19-year old student, of Bellevue Hill, pleaded guilty to driving recklessly or furiously in a speed and manner dangerous in Goulburn Local Court on Wednesday.

Police stated that at 12.15pm on June 20 they observed a Mazda RX8 coupe travelling south on the Hume Highway 250m north of the Windellama Bridge.

It was clocked on police radar doing 197km/h in a 110km/h sign-posted area. No P-plates were displayed on the vehicle at the time.

When he was stopped by police and asked why he was travelling so fast, Salamon said "I was involved in a conversation, I didn't notice the speed."

The defence solicitor did not contest the police facts and said there was "no excuse for his client's behaviour other than stupidity and immaturity."

"There is not a lot of good I can say about it and I won't insult your honour's intelligence by providing any excuses for this behaviour," the solicitor said.

"His mother has already sold the car and he has learnt his lesson." He said when Salamon was given a new Mazda RX8 as a gift by his parents, he could not resist seeing what it was capable of.

Magistrate Rob Rabbidge told Salamon that it was disappointing to see a young man who was born into a family with assets and privilege behave in such a manner.

"Speed kills, and unfortunately it has killed a lot of people on that highway," Mr Rabbidge said.

He placed Salamon on a section nine good-behaviour bond for 12 months. His licence was also disqualified for 12 months.

Sad, but true.

rx-9 boi02,

I dont think they could confiscate the car if he did not own it. It was prob on the parents name.

On the fact that sometimes you do forget about the speed you are going, when trying to keep in 40,50,60 zones. the rx8 just rolls faster than that sometimes. The speed the kid was doing can not stand as rolling :D

Most of the P Platers in your area Nojooc sell abit of that abit of this. Most on P Plates have lost their license before and/or are driving their brothers cars.

I pass by queen street smash repair a few times and see all the BARBIE cars and on saturdays they bring the Ferrari. :D

Regards
Phillip
