It's all cool labrat. I just got the impression you pictured big holes in the front of the bumper to fit the grill! That would me as well.

So does that mean I can cross your name off the original list for the very first batch of grill kits?

Thank you all for reading this far and for contributing some great points. Frankly I'm astonished to find that there are still people with the ability to read (and write) posts that are more than a paragraph long. On most forums, the TV generation kids have the attention span of gnats, and if it's longer than a sentence they just skip it.

I remember that. Can't remember who though.

But I do remember my Dad arriving at my school one day after driving through farmland, and discovering a dead pheasant lying across the front of his car! Very tasty too.

Of course this was (gulp) fifty years ago (geez, it was too...) and he was driving an old Jag with a bumper with the weight and consistency of a chunk of railway line, and a few hundredweight of protective chromework up front. Probably could have collected a sheep, or a pensioner or two, without feeling the bump.

In those days there were no cruddy little exposed rads that look like they've been manufactured out of recycled Alfoil to worry about....

Mumble, mumble...... it's all going to the dogs I tell you....

Well BVD, judging by the miniscule number of radiators and condensers you've had to replace in 45 years (1 of each was it?) compared to the number of windscreens and headlight surrounds you've lost over that time, I'd say by your own logic that you've been wasting your valuable engineering time. :p :D

When you turn up at the Nats I expect to see a grille over your windscreen and some little cages on the headies. :D :D 'Cause lets face it - losing one or the other is an everyday event in WA. :p :D

Well I bought the Grill but havn't fitted it yet (Sorry Hymee). I bought the grill cause I found a folded fin on my oil cooler (not broken). since buying the grill (and not fitting it) I have found another, luckily again it hasn't broken the fins.



The left one is the first occurance.

I guess I am lucky but hell ... I think its time to get the bugger fitted.

So 2 rads is "miniscule" but 5 windscreens is somehow huge? Don't be ridiculous.

I don't put grilles over my windscreen because a) it isn't practical or cost effective and b) I have another simple solution for that problem - insurance. My 5 screens were all replaced under the "one free screen a year" section of my insurance.

My car insurance doesn't cover losing a rad through stone damage.

And "wasting my valuable engineering time" - HA! How hard do you think it is to cut out a piece of mesh and fit it? Well, maybe it would be an insuperable task for a lawyer, but it's simple enough for me.

This is how it went:

Seems good to me. Cheap, quick, and effective. An enjoyable afternoon's work.

I guess I shouldn't be annoyed when people on forums post daft comments (in fun in this case, of course) because it does give me an excuse to blather on with something a bit more aligned with reality. :D
