Question Wax Gaurd - Is it any good????

Can anyone advise if the protective treatments offered by dealers is of any value? I'm somewhat sceptical.

They offered me a range of protective treatments by a company called Wax Guard. With the paint protection apparently being a teflon based sealant.

Thanks in advance

Anything offered by the dealers is likely to be much more expensive than if you organise it yourself.

Wax Guard

I too got the "sales pitch" from the Customer Service Lady.....I'd had the same pitch before so I was ready.....what a pain it is ! I figure if you are going to take care of your car with regular wash and wax etc... then is it really critical ? If not then maybe it is worth it.....with regard to the 'scotch guard' seat protection, well exactly that you can scotch guard them for a tenth the price....I got cloth and when it wears out in 7 or 8 years I'll get custom leather seats, so I wasn't to concerned. Then she tried for the underbody rust protection.......I told her I had 3rd Gen RX7s in Florida where it rains every day in summer and is close to the coast (salt air she said....) and both my 93 and 94 cars had absolutely no rust. I think as previous post...if you want the waxguard get it from Wax Guard not the dealer. She actually told me that if I changed my mind I could get it at the first service...by the way, you need to have the car evaluated by a Waxguard certified dealer every two years and I am sure they will recommend to have the treatment reapplied...and if you do have a repair, it has to be by a waxguard certified dealer.......and you know that's going to cost extra, right !

Save your money on the dealer offered stuff. It is 90% margin for them. The creame, they get you at a weak moment "but surely you feel it is necessay to protect you brand new car"...

Save it. Sorry dealers.

Have search for Swissol. Hymee Recommended. (I have no monetary gain to be had from promoting it. I just reckon it is THE stuff.

Cheers,
Hymee.

whether you have protection or not,
your paint finish will be better off if you look after it
by washing properly when it gets dirty. Doesn't
matter what you put on it, they all wear off after
6-12 months and then it can't protect you from bird
droppings and industrial fallout.
Don't get it from the dealer - they are bogus, if you
really want to get a protective coating, get something
recommended by someone here.
