Looking forward to tales of torque steer after the ECU instal.
As for the Exige - nup. Couldn't live with it and the styling's even more forced than the 8!
I'd rather buy a Polo GTi for the street and an Atom for the track.

thought i'd jump in on this thread.
currently looking at the following:
-subary liberty 2.5
-mazda6
-alfa 156
- 2004 audi a4
budget isnt going to be as big this time round, with the baby and new house underway, and with my needs changed, i've gotta watch the $$ ith the 1 income.
driven them all and nothing compares to what i thought they would, however still favouring the subaru at this stage.
currently looking at the following:

I think the unreliability and rust tendencies of older models has left a lot of people cold about the marque.Mind you, more recent models like the 159 indicate, like Jaguar, they're gradually lifting their game.

Now, speaking of exotica, we had some friends over last weekend who have a holiday house next door to the guy who owns Industrie clothing (a genuine rags to riches story btw - no pun intended). He's moving up the Ferrari range. Bought a 360 less than 12 months ago but now has on order a 599 (one of the 10 Australia is getting). The best thing about this story - he's happy to let other people drive his cars. We met him and his family when we stayed there for a weekend last summer. Hmm, wonder if I can score another bait.

Lusting after berlinetta models from Ferrari, Lamborghini, et al is all very well but the crushing truth is that anything I buy for the next 10 years or so has to have 4 useable seats.
Now, some of you will be aware of my penchant for AM's. To be honest, I'd be perfectly happy parking a Vantage in my garage and spending the difference on the cost of a F430 on some other toys.
So, what do you reckon about this thing - the Rapide, which is due for production in 2008 (hmm, wonder what I'll be worth then? ).

Historically, well since 1949, Aston has badged its 4 door a Lagonda, and actually called the early sixties model "Rapide", with coachwork by Superleggera. (I have one sitting in my shed, number 55 of 55 they made.)
I wonder will they stick with tradition if this model comes to fruition.

Yeah, I was aware of the traditional nomenclature.
I reckon they've moved on since "Lagonda" (or the marketing types have anyway) and will stick to the concept car's "Rapide" as a sexier, more modern sounding handle.
I guess we'll find out in a couple of years.
Does No. 55 get a run every now and again?

The new TT has entered the frame as a contender.
Upsides - I think it looks better than MkI, in VR6 Quattro form it pumps out 184kW and is reckoned to get to 100km/h in under 6 secs (a 224kW version is slated for 2008 ), DSG box, Audi build quality and resale.
Downsides - more sterile AWD handling, the ask (close enough to $100K as makes no difference is my guess), having to retard my kids' growth so they fit in the back (make 911's look like people movers), whether or not Audi have finally managed to tune suspension for Aussie roads.

hmm... well, my beamer's paid off + running great, and my 8's going to be paid off in 5 months. so, i'm going to just enjoy my cars for a while & save some $.
the only thing that would make me re-consider would be if mazda re-introduces the rx-7 -or- if they stick a 300+ hp rotary in the kabura and go production with it. (am praying that neither of the above happens for the sake of my financial sanity... lol)
