As for your suggestion!!! For starters, it's a Ford!! Secondly, it's a Ford!!! Hmm, nup, don't need any other reasons but most are self-evident from the pics.
Phew...thanks for that...I thought for a minute we were going to have a VW tug-of-war...

Yes your right on the Ford front, but its always good to say you've considered it...even it is is for .08 seconds...

Actually, I'm not the greatest fan of the Eos, but Julia mentioned the 'c' word so it has to be on the list. And, like all VAG cars with FI, they're so damn easy to extract more power from...easy to have 160KwATW, without torque steer driving you crazy

Julia...heres a toughie...a 2008 MX-5 or a 2nd hand Z4?....you'd have more thrills, more luggage space and of course more head turns...they have low k's and are within your budget...!

He's been lucky...or has moved them on before their built-in obsolesence has kicked in. Having owned a few it'll be a while before I'm ever tempted back.

Sorry to go off topic here, but I owned three of the suckers...

1st car - Ford Cortina TD 2.0 l (bought new)

2nd car - Ford Fairlane ZF 351 V8

4th car - Ford Falcon Hardtop XA 302 top loader

Cars 2 and 4 got me immune to petrol consumption....and some good memories....

Yeah, he used to turn over his cars every 3-5 years. The one he has now (his Tickford Fairlane) he's had since 1998 and it's still going well ... and it doesn't get serviced regularly at all.

That said, I choose not to buy one because I don't want a glorified Taxi, but I think the new Mondeo looks good from a few angles

Nope doesn't have to be....my 8 was a demo....but I like the Tax break.....haven't looked at a BMW before....might have a look but not a fan of the styling.....but that might change in the flesh...

... what about a convertible Saab?
I think it might cause me to convulse when I look at the depreciation......they look ok but they don't drive like I would like one to drive...not taught enough.....like the colour on the new one in the ad though :-) It's like obnoxius green....suits my demeanour!!!

Nope I don't think I will like it....but as Timbo says we might not get the winnie blue model over here...they might even give it to us at a price they won't undercut 2 years into the model..........dipstick.......what about trying to read the goddam thing......I just pour oil in now at regular intervals......I know it uses about 1/2 litre per 2500kms...... am I lazy now!!???

An Evo X?? For an extra $10K you could buy the 2.0T TT, which many people prefer to the heavier quattro. Or an Elise S.

All fun cars but a bitch to live with day to day. If you want a convertible for under $60K, I still reckon the MX-5 or a second-hand 330Ci (as mentioned above) would be the way to go. I'd go the former myself but that's a personal choice.

If you want the practicality of a sedan, you could also check out the 6MPS. I didn't like the way it handled and changed gears but you might feel differently...
Yes my first thought was buy MX-5.....set Bruce onto it......he already has looked up springs and brakes...I have after market wheels......then see what else we can do to it.....
I concur, did think of the Evo 10 but only if it comes with cruise....then wonder if it's sophisticated enough for my mid life crisis...

I drove the MPS 6 thought the same as you...boot big enough to hide the body of your worst enemy in......light clutch and boring looks......nope I drove that and then bought the 8!!! I knew we had a lot in common!!

I like the hard top MX5.......in silver it looks lovely.......it's high on the list...and I get to stay in the family....

Yeah it's cute and high on the list...i nearly flattened the battery of the demo from MAzda Australia putting the roof up and down......incidentally the car I borrowed I had harassed around the track at a drive day some months before. I chased the instructor around and around till smoke came out his brakes..... was lots of fun......my brakes are modded and so I can stop all day.....I think the pads from the 8 will fit the 5 too unless someone knows otherwise....I know my 17" Honda wheels will..... Yup they are fun too. Steering is VERY direct which took some getting used to.....yes staying in the family is important as I have met some great people on here.....and in Melbourne.....and Brissie....

Thank you for the idea but I would rather burn the $25k than drive that...... I don't think we would get along.......not fast enough amongst other things.....my mum would like that though I reckon!!!! I am too aggressive in my driving to drive a colt....

I am going to have a look at them....but I don't know...I don't like the coupe model and I think the convertible might lose some rigidity...also would prefer a hard top convertible.....but will give it the benefit of the doubt....

Better order now; there's a waiting list.

BTW, I'd wait and have a look at the Aus spec for the RX-8. We've been reacting to information on the top line US spec, with all bodykit attached. Based on MA's past approach, they will try to hit a couple of price points so I reckon you will see something 'less' ostentatious!
Yup am going to look at the EOS...I talked to a surgeon today and we were discussing cars.....he laughed when I mentioned the EOS.....his words were....."it would drive you mad, get them to lend you one for a week.....trust me" I will go and have a look though as I am crossing off all convertibles in my hunt....

Only one bad....we have only one VW dealer in Adelaide and I am black banned sort of for helping my girlfriend get a sweet heart deal on a car...... they thought they had an easy sell...... Silly lads :-)

Like convertible idea....
Don't like the Civic Type R...it's over-rated by HOnda....
Prefer something lighter on fuel....not a HYBRID
As long as it comes in silver.....

If you want to go practicality you could consider the Ford Focus CC...it has a two-piece folding electric hardtop, a full 4-seater, and holds more than 500 litres of luggage space. The attached pic is the US version but you get the idea...not bad....

Thanks but...oh no that is terrible..looks like it will bend in the middle if you go round a corner too fast.....the interior is not to my taste either....... Looked at this on the net and thought.....mmmmmm nope......makes me feel lucky I have the 8....like your MX5 idea better :-)

Ps. Hope lunch was nice.....sorry my phone dropped out??

Yes a daily would be nicer...but nice idea......WD suggested a Streamliner...he was no help at all.....

He did like the MX5 though...he didn't want to drive it...then said...oh I'll just drive for a few kms......55kms later he was happy to stay driving.......does 0-100kph in 2nd gear......then hits limiter....WD then said there you go that's how it's geared....he likes testing the go fast...I just like slamming on the brakes
