Ok final response
Well we have 1 ford. It's a 1983 V8 6 litre Bronco and we love it...but that's the only ford we will own...I don't like them....just had to help my Dad do the head gasket on his EA falcoon and I hate that model.......
BMW doesn't look nice enough....sorry....
I do need a roof for security......keeping dust out and keeping me dry..contrary to popular belief we do get rain occasionally here......just not at the moment....
I would love a track car but it needs air bags, ABS, CC, A/C...creature comforts...but I will have a track day car Timbo if you will build and buy it for me!!! :-)
I am still in love with the 8..........but the MX5 is getting my vote at the moment.....
Have to get new rubber for the 8 so will see how it goes and feels after this...I may drag out the change over a bit longer......just clicked over 48,000kms this arvo as I fanged home...... It's still a great car.....
I managed to fit an office gas lift chair in it today!!! Amazing what you can fit.....
It severly dampens my spending when I go to IKEA though and Bruce thinks that's a good thing...we took the Bronco and the trailer yesterday which was always going to be ugly....and it was 6 bookshelves and 1 cabinet later I now have an office not boxes!!!! OT I know but Bruce looked like he was in pain wading through the throng!!! LOL I cacked myself watching him restrain his instinct to punch his way through!!!!

Good call.
A known entity, good resale, lots of fun, easy to mod with a worldwide community that's trod the path before you and good economy to boot. Throw in the creature comforts and it ticks all your boxes methinks.

Well I can tell you a little about a few mods for the mx5.
Goodwin racing has a full exhaust system (headers, cat to muffler) which combined with the racing beat intake has the Mx5 up over 140kw and closer to 150kw.
Cosworth who are specialists in the MZR engine found in the mx5 are also shortly releasing some nice mods for the car. The first is a water to air intercooled supercharger kit, then things like forged pistons, cams etc.
I know in the states the track guys running the full goodwin exhaust, intake, light flywheel are giving Lotus Exige drivers real hell out on the track.
Then if you like the RX8 brakes bolt straight up to the MX5!
Oh by the way I love my Civic Type R. Don't listen to all the negative feedback. I have found it to be a damn fine car and a real hoot on the track. Most the negative people actually don't seem to have had any first hand experience with it just what they have heard. What it needed most from factory is a good wheel alignment. The factory settings were crap. A good alignment and it felt like a different car!
My pick though... Go the MX5!
On a side note Mazda has developed a 2.0 litre Direct injection turbo charged engine with almost exact proportions to the MZR 2.0 Litre found in the MX5. It will not be too long before this will find it's way into an MX5

I like the sound on the moddies for the MX5.....I am thinking about getting one and then paying it off over the course of the lease so it's mine at the end...will give me more incentive to not get board with it...I can mod it so then I won't have to worry about selling it and then can track it........YUP I am selling it to myself!!!!

YUP and YUP!!
Thanks for the link. I was flying back from QLD yesterday arvo.... did look at the local site but couldn't find a forum..... you are so thoughtful.
On the contraception side....I sure think this car will make a statement........mid aged female...still in denial and colouring her hair to cover grays......NOT INTERESTED in having children......INTERESTED in having fun...maybe I should get the plate....NOKIDS!!!! That might stop them asking me!! God I hate that question!!!
However I do think that those with wonderful children are definetly given a beautiful gift. Specially as they grow up.....(and suck you dry)!!!! No not really....your kids Dave a gorgeous :-)

Some trepidation though when daughter #1 after a year of driving now has to learn to drive a MT and all you have is a Lamborghini and an RX8 neither insured for under 25s on the road.

And trust me, a well-kept woman in a convertible sports car never looks as sad as a middle-aged bloke in a sports car.
And yeah they're gorgeous yada yada yada but so are plenty of two-seaters!! (I'm gonna burn in hell for that, aren't I?? ).

Hey thanks for that Stu. You went the Civic...interesting. Did you get a good test drive?? Here they say it's the closest you will get to a F1 Honda....that did it for me really....I thought it was a load of sh*t and then they would only let me test it round the block!!! None of them knew me either...the guy I knew there had left so my reputation in driving could not proceed me.... I didn't wear a low cut top and push up bra so that's maybe why I only got the block drive....
I have been without mine for almost a month now and am missing it dearly. Last night I had the chance to go around the workshop and give the upgrades a test Just nudging over 190kw all naturally aspirated from that little 2 litre engine Oh what fun it was... And the sound at 9000rpm
Still if 2 seats are all you need then you MUST get an MX5 and mod... mod... mod! With coilovers and the earlier mentioned engine mods it would truly be an amazing little beast out on the track. All the instructors and professional race car drivers that had the chance to throw tubby (my little red NC mx5) around the track all said with my coilover setup that the car was simply sublime to throw around the track. All that was needed was some more squirt... Now thats available I think it would come very close to driving nirvana!

Yes I got myself a really good test drive for a whole day. I was wearing a low cut singlet... Should I be worried Its a car that really needs to be driven for a while to be appreciated. One of the English magazines that totally canned it in there first road test now after having one for 6 months as a long term tester don't want to give it back as living with it has completely changed their minds.

Showed this list of mods to Bruce and he smiled and said bring it on!!! I am a lucky woman.....we talked exhausts and he said "give me the car, forget your warranty and I will make it go fast for you. There is a place in the States where you can drop off your Miata in the morning and pick it up that night with a whopping big Ford engine in it." Needless to say I think he has been doing some research..... Lucky me...lucky me.....
Nope Dave...really with us.....Modding makes us closer!!!
