hi all,
my car`s flooded, refuses to start and is 4 levels underground in a carpark.
now that sucks, ...

what sucks even more than that, is the criminal who wants to charge me 400-500 dollars to tow it to the street level, then the additional tow charges to get it to mazda,

the reason being, the 1.9m max height of the carpark means i cant find another tow company that can do it.

so,.. if i call the NRMA, get them to tow it to mazda, which is 4km away, do you reckon that would be a bad idea, i know the workshop manual says towing the car with the rear wheels on the ground is bad, the NRMA, would they know what they`re doing ?

160 bucks to join the NRMA is a better option than a $700 legalized robbery from a tow company,

what cha`s reckon ?

just try to start it by following the procedures found on this site...don't waste your money on getting it towed...just my opinion.

The NRMA will charge you for towing anyway.

Towing at low speed with the wheels on the ground is a lot different from towing at highway speeds.
I would tow it out with another car and keep the speed at no more than 10 km/h then call a flat bed carrier.

thisllub, cheers, good advice, bugger, NRMA probably aint gonna be much help then, so i`ll find a mate to tow me up to the street then flatbed it.

i didnt take the fuse out, i had the pedal to the floor, that was supposed to cut the fuel going into the chamber while cranking it over, it feels kinda backwards to me,... but anyway,... i`ll take the fuse out and give that method a go, i was going to accept defeat, i`ll give it a try, fingers crossed my battery has a little bit left ,thanks rotarenvy,

There is a very specific flood procedure. Have you followed it?

i tried the cranking with pedal down 10 sec turn key off, wait, crank 10 sec, repeat,.. wait a few days try again, ... no good

i went to go buy new plugs and do the next level , the sparkplug check/replace, until i found out how much that would be, and the guy at the desk at mazda said they`d be able to start it without the new plugs, (which are only 10k km old anyway)

the compression oil thing i havent done, i`m just a bit hesitant about doing that, not really sure why i would be doing it, or the implications of doing it wrong, so i might leave that up to the guys at mazda, better to be safe than sorry i guess, but then again, i am getting pretty anxious to get this thing running, so i might give it a try

the one time I flooded my car (due to a greddy emanage). I unplugged it, removed the injector fuse then cranked it at full throttle until it wanted to start. plugged the injector fuse back in and then it started.

I all honesty, I think the issue will be resolved with the "B" option. Thats where most people I hav heard of have solved the problem.

Have you taken the plugs out yet? I bet they are pretty ordinary.

I would be wondering whether your dealer actually did change your plugs and leads if this has happened. Especially after finding out my dealer lapsed to do things which have cost me more time and money after I stopped servicing with them.

Get them to fix the issue, wait at the dealership when they're fixing it and make sure they show you YOUR spark plugs from YOUR car ... and watch them do it.

Then ... change where you service your car. Find a rotary specialist somewhere.

yeah, ive seen photo`s of plugs that have come out looking pretty terrible, even with not many km`s on `em, giving `em a clean up would be worth a shot, i havent had a look, looks like a project for saturday morning !

i like the idea of finding a rotary specialist for the servicing too, even if you take the car to mazda, there`s still the thought in the back of the mind, that there`s a chance you get the new kid who doesnt really get it yet,...
