Window Tinting - Sydney
Hi All,
This is my first post. I have recently purchased a Titanium RX-8 Leather Pack. The car is stock and the first mod I want to do is to tint the windows.
Does anybody know of any good tinting places in Sydney (preferably not too far from Parramatta)? I’ve heard a lot about Sol-Ace, Instant Windscreens, Oz Tint and Option Tinting on other forums. I have called a few of these places up and apparently the RX-8 is not a very favourable car for tinters. Apparently its harder to tint than most cars and its best to get a tinter with RX-8 experience to tint them. I’m looking at paying anywhere between $230-$290 for a good job. I’ve read a lot of posts about how a metallic tint on the rear window can cause poor radio reception. My main concern however is getting a good job for a reasonable price.
From experience have any of you RX-8 owners in Sydney tinted your windows and if so was is a good job, what percentage do you recommend (20% or 35%) and what was the name of the company that did it?
Cheers

my window tint guy is in lansvale, they (2 ppl) did my 8 in less than 20 mins (no joke..... i was like.... made a phone call, have a somke, went in, and done
), no dramas, and it came with lifetime warranty.
they have been doing for at least 10 years. one of the brothers is contracted to mazda for window tint. the other brother tinted my other car 7 years ago :D
their prices are very fair and competitive
, let me know if you want me to hook you up
(ie. send me an email, and I will get in touch with you on Monday)

Tried the rest until I found the best.
Option window tinting in Fairfield, just near the train line
They did the wifes Eunos 500 a few weeks ago & I was very impressed with the quality & finish. Only paid $250 for the top line metalic tint too.

Paid $240, but opted for non-metallic rear window so as not to affect the radio antenna. There is a debate on this but I just went with the guy's advice

Had mine done two weeks ago at Tint-a-Car francise. $260 for Formula 1 metallic on sides AND rear -> no affect on AM or FM radio reception within the Adelaide metro and country areas. (I didnt really care if AM was affected)
They didn't do too bad a job, a few little pin ***** marks/dots around the edges of the drivers window where it contacts the rubber seal.
Looks good and makes a big difference to the temperature inside the car, especially driving home on 35 degree days with the Sun on your shoulder.

Try Boyd on 0412081213.
He can tint it however you like it![Wink](https://www.rx8club.com/images/smilies/wink.gif)
He tints for a few Mazda dealers too so he knows his way around them.
I think it's $180 for 4 door and $150 for a 2 door.
Tell him Ed with the Mazda 2 sent you :D

Thanks all for the feedback
Thanks for the reply all,
I've descided to go with Instant Windscreens in Parramatta as they are very close and are a well renowned australia-wide tinting company.
The only downside was the price.
Was quoted $270 for 35% tints. Not to mention their misleading/false advertisments as they rejected my $25 tint discount voucher advertised on their website.
The storepersons exact words were: "I can't accept that voucher as the rx8 is a b%tch of a car to tint".
Anyways i'll keep you all informed of how the tint will look & on my next mod (the U2 special edition ipod .. matches the red/black interior of my car to perfection).
Cheers
