I think it is a good idea to have 2 groups. We aren't going to be at the track for the whole day and it is just waste of time and money if we cannot get enough people.

I DO think that 20-30 people is a good number and we can have 3 groups of 8 for safety reason.. but then again.... I will see what Peter thinks. We can take turns for the track and even means 16 cars it will be around $250 each .

Andrew could you get back to me on it please?

even if we cant get 30, we better start with what we got, chip in the money, then later on when more people join up, the people that already paid the deviden got some $$ back.... just a suggestion....

for example cost $4500... we got 15ppl, each paid $300, then later on 15more ppl join, they have to pay $150 each, and the 1st 15 ppl got $150 back.... hows that sound?

More importantly, a date has to be set. We all have a job (i hope!) and the sooner we get the date agreed upon then we can all commit to it.

Problem with some people who have not paid up often back out or don't show up. I just believe that if you are willing to go... you are also willing to pay. Paying up is just an insurance that you "WILL" attend.

I agree, we need numbers to make the event cheaper and more affordable.

Yep, I agree totally!

However, once the date is set most people will make ways to take annual leave or the pretend sickie day(s). BTW... no pressure for the set date. I'll be there regardless of when.

Also, I am just hoping for more people to attend the event.

OK one thing I want to make clear is somethinig that I think was made clear for the nationals. I am doing this on the proviso that everyone agrees that it is a track day, not a raceday.

We have people with a range of skills showing interest and I want everyone to be sure of what to expect.

You will (at worst) be racing against a clock, NOT other participants. This means that if you are on a hot lap and you come upon another car, I would expect you to not push it any further and back right off. for this reason, depending on numbers I would expect to be able to comfortably place 6-7 people on the track at once and have them be able to push hard without coming upon another car (unless someone spins out of course).

For this reason I would expect to group people by their skill and experience (and possibly lap times after each round).

How does this sound? Is everyone in agreance with this? or am I just being unrealistic and power hungry?

I am currently focusing on the 2 Mondays available (20th of feb or march) how does that sound?

Absolutely agree with your logic, reason and request

At the end of the day, the best achievement is to drive a straight car home and had a lot of fun.

Right. What is worst than having the car in the back of the lorry.

When someone spins out, the usual logic apply, there should be considered as no racing in the circuit and let the person clear before it restarts - otherwise there is no way that others can go out and recover the vehicle when people are goign 1000 miles an hour.

I can make it 20 Feb or 20 March. I just have to tell my new job place that so I guess I will let them know for both day and I will cancel it afterwards.

I agree with points mentioned about the what this Winton track day is all about.
SAFETY is a priority!

As Taka has mentioned, if someone spins off the next car should slow down and let the person get back on the track. Also, I think the "Hazard" light can be handy in the event of a mishap. At least it's a distinct visual signal. And everyone on track should also turn all "Hazard" lights just to verify there is something going on up ahead. To me it makes sense as the "brake light" just indicates slowing down but not necessarily warn of oncoming danger. Just my 2 cents in the safety argument.

As for the dates, either one wil suit me.

Ohhh... what about accomodation? Would be unreal if we all book in the same motel and it would be a sight to see all the RX8s in the parking lot. Also... it saves our cars from being dinged by some careless folks. Perhaps, some well travelled person can recommend a motel/hotel for us to look in to.

It will be fun. The nearest decent accom is in Benella - 10km from Winton. Winton town is away from the track anyway so staying at Winton does not help.

Once the date is set then I can take care of the accom.

here is the interest so far.... and if we hire the whole track, we got 9am to 5pm.... i think thats plenty for 3 groups of 7 cars each group, but i could be wrong....

1. auzoom - rx8
2. taka - rx8
3. brewer - rx8
4. jormaton - rx8
5. astro - rx8
6. rxate - rx8
7. iliv48 - NC MX5
8. flameboy - EXE - sp23
9. paul - EXE - DC5R
10. quiee - EXE - DC2R
11. Mark - EXE - rx7
12. Sheepo - 3
13. awhar3 - 3
14. Jaush - sp23
15. Novi - EXE - jazz
16. Josh - eg6 siR

here is the link from ozmazda thread: http://www.ozmazdaclub.com/forums/sh...?t=8184&page=2

we can devide into 2 groups at the moment.... the more experienced group (all the rx8 and a NC mx5) and the newbie group.....

if we got time we could do groupA first 7 laps, then groupB first 7 lap, hopefully we can do 3x7laps each group... or more?

i am agree for this to be a track day... not competition day....

TAKA: you can contact heather from winton raceway, she know where to get the timing device for hire...

Any of the Mondays is good for me.

If it is just 2 groups then they will each get more than 3 goes on the track if all behave.

I have one question though... How does this all work if we do not have a CAMs affiliation and I also thought to run at Winton you needed fire extinguisher, bonnet tye down etc as well as a cams license unless it was part of a registered driver training program like the one Auzoom attended run by Peter?

hmmmm.... i could be wrong taka, but i thought competition is if we all race against each other, start from the starting grid together, and push even if you behid other driver....

non competition i guess its just a normal 'if i keep up with you, give way to me' rules.... which defeat the whole purpose for timing devices....

If that is so then is the insurance part of the fee for the track or does that need to be organised seperately/on top of it?

ok... lets make this thing clear... just finish talkin with a lady from winton....

the timing devices are called AMB transmitter.... we can hire it for $15 dollar each car.... and no, it will not change the insurance policy for non-competition trackday.... we're allowed to have it....

secondly, the insurance from AASA are included in the track hire.... but to qualify each car have to pay $45 for AASA licence which valid for 12 months and can be used on several track in victoria including calder....

she said 20th of feb is not available anymore... you can double check.... heather said some club book it....
