Exclamation *****RX Club of Ontario First Meet Ever*****

Well the concensus has clearly shown that rotor heads in Ontario wish to unite around Mazda's domination of the rotary powered world.

If you own or appreciate rotary powered vehicles you will want to be a part of the inception of this new club.

When: April 23rd, 2005

Where: GTA location TBA (We apologize to out of towners for the GTA local but we will definately spread our wings in the future)

Agenda:

There will be a professional photographer on hand to take pictures of all vehicles in attendance individually and collectively for the creation of the RX Club of Ontario website and promotional items. (So if you have suggestions of a picturesque local for the first meet give us a holler)

We will select a committee at our first meeting to steer the club in the path of success. If you have webmaster, promotional, managerial or mechanical skills that you would like to volunteer, come to the meet and introduce yourselves to the community you want to help build.

If you plan on attending or require further information please PM the 'RX Club of Ontario' or 'Lawyer's Spirit'.

Please use this thread to add your suggestions for how you would like to see this club evolve.

The key to our success is you, push it, pull it, drag it or bus it, but make sure you are there.

More details will follow including a club constitution and a proposed agenda for the season.

Please spread the word to other rotary forums and more importantly those not on the forums.

It is going to be a great summer!!!

Sounds like a great Idea, the Club should definatly include all rotary powered cars, with emphasis placed on the RX-7 and RX-8. I see thats its getting a great responce from the RX-7 forum too! Discounts and cool swag would be great but the real great thing in my mind is more cruses like the ottawa and belleville ones. And don't Worry Mic, once spring is really here then there will be tons of 7s to cruise with, I showed you that the Second Gens can keep up to the big dogs on the weekend :D If theres anyway I can help let me know!

Well if cruise are your thing then maybe we can endorse a couple and help them grow. The current slate of cruises I know of are:

Ottawa Cruise/Meet: May 21-22

Bruce/Grey County Cruise/Meet: 2nd Week of July

Niagara Cruise/Meet: Sometime in August, but I have heard that Mr. Zoom is going to call it quits on the meet if he doesn't have some set up support. Maybe we could step in and give him a hand.

Other potential events:

CSCS Racing cayuga drag/track events: I spoke with one of the organizers yesterday, who also happen to be the sons of Canjam racing (excellent rotary technicians), well they are willing to give a group discount to see more rotaries at their events.

TO Protege Club MOM(Meeting of the Mazda event: September

And we can fit in the impromptu smaller meets to fill the holes. Maybe a non-car sporting event with the 8s challenging the 7s at Soccer/Rugby or something like that

It could be a really jam packed, action filled summer.

So lets hear from you 8 drivers that plan on attending. The ball is rolling just give it a kick.

Sounds great. I'm there for sure. I think the turn out will be big. So prepare enough time and space for all!

We want to see the owners from the Golden Horshoe and Ottawa region as well.

I think we have the potential to be the biggest sport car club in Canada because we are unique in our taste in cars and the image they project. So lets unite accordingly.

One of the 7 owners has suggested that the old buildings at the CNE grounds would make a nice backdrop for pics. I will look into whether the 23rd of April is a busy day at the grounds. But I suspect that there would still be room. I can imagine pics in front of the Liberty Grand looking very good.

Lawyer's Spirit,

Cool it dude... No need to come off so aggressive... It's obvious you don't know Mic... He loves to post on the forum and break peoples *****... that's what he does! LOL!! Seriously, he's just joking around... And he's very hardcore... Not many people I know would drive out to Belleville to meet up with other 8 owners who have come down to the GTA area... If that doesn't scream hardcore, I don't know what does...

Rest assure, he's in... You can call the shots because you've been devoting alot of your spare time to bring this club up to speed... That's fine...

We'll be seeing everyone at the first meet!

Lates,

I've got to agree with Neo, Mic was hardcore to drive all the way to Belleville and he definatly enjoyed the meet and was very cool with my 7 (although he only saw my tail lights ) He'll come around to the Idea when he sees all the 7s and 8s parked side by side on the 23rd. Its good to get all the concerns in the open now and deal with them. Thanks again for making the trek to the County Mic and Hellas!!

Hey guys, i can offer some support and more exposure to the new club.
I will run/insert the decided banner for the Rotary club on my website.
The website averages between 2-3 million hits per month with 5000 unique.

Second, i would also like to help organize the western RX8 and RX7 owners so that we can showup and support the meets.
I personally showed at the MOM for the protege..and won first :D

I am also a sponsor at grandbend motor plex so i can arrange a track day for rotary owners.
Our shop will offer the normal club discount of 10% to all verfied members-
FOR ALL PRODUCTS AND SERVICES AVAILAIBLE TO THE ROTARY OWNERS
please confirm the date and location
talk soon
PM with any thoughts or converstaion in regards to this thread

LS, Mic is a first rate individual with a great sense of humour and will be a very good and loyal member of our club, or any club for that matter. You haven't had the pleasure of meeting him face to face to understand him and enjoy his presence and participation. His intentions are always genuine and sincere. Mic will be our best salesman who is not on the payroll. He'll be there, he'll add value and make a number of potential members feel comfortable and part of a team/family.

I will this sunday drive to Niagara Falls with a digital camera and scout possible places for a shoot. This way at least you have an idea of what we have to offer.

That sounds like a club president nomination to me

I'm not going to stand beside a team that hasn't won a cup in 38 years. Blue Jays, fine.

Several areas to check out in the Falls area that have a large parking area; the Floral Clock at Queenston (if it's still there, been awhile since I was there); Sir Adam Beck Generating Station, parking lot usually empty on weekends, also at Queenston; both allow a run down the Niagara Parkway from Niagara on the Lake or some of the wineries in the area have large parking lots to accomodate cars and buses.

Murray,

Just a suggestion, brock tower right by the front gates, Chinese Temple, parking spots by the parkway past the falls. Or by the canal

That will be great but I think it will have to be a more central GTA location for our first meet to encourage the most participation. I realize that the GTA is not the centre of the universe but with drivers coming from East, West and North of the GTA it makes sense for this first meet.

There have been a number of requests here and on the 7 club for the 24th over the 23rd. Would that cause undue hardship to some? Just feeling for thoughts at the moment.

LS, GTA is not the center of the universe??? I've been lied to all these years by Leafs fans :o

The 24th is OK with me. We just should fix a date, time and place sooner than later so more will be able to make it.

24th is fine with me as long as we're in the downtown area. BTW for any of you comic book or closet comic book fans, there's a *free CON at the MTCC on the 24th. $10 admin in exchange you get $10 voucher to selected comic book shops, or vice versa. Click here for details
