18" Steelies....

Hey guys,

I've tried getting 18" wheelies to plop some old tires on my 8....I'm storing it for the winter and since I don't want flat spots on my new tires, I'm just putting my old tires on some much needed 18" steelies.

However, the junkyard I called doesn't have the bolt pattern for an RX-8 (is what the guy told me)....so do you guys know where I can get some cheap, used 18" steelies instead of paying premium price and buying new ones?

Thanks,

Ben.

i believe you should look for mazda 626, mazda 5, mazda 6 rims of any kind...double check but they will all fit...atleast well enough for storage

Have you considered leaving your car on jack stands while it's stored? Cheaper than buying steelies.

+1 on the jack stands. Otherwise, did you check Kijiji? Try spinning the wheels every month or so?

Flat spot your new tires? Did you buy a new set of Bias Plys or something? I've always just inflated the tires to their max (sidewall) pressure and let them be. Flat-spots from sitting aren't a huge concern with a properly inflated modern radial. That's what I've been doing for years.
Much better idea than putting the car on jack stands, where you leave the suspension in droop for an extended period of time (not a position it was not design to be in for a long time.) Next thing somebody is going to do is recommend starting it up every few days...(please don't do that either..)
