Looks like the Shinka edition. Black cherry mica exterior, parchment leather interior:
http://www.mazdausa.com/MusaWeb/disp...modelYear=2005
It may seem like it's hard to improve on the RX-8 - one of the most critically acclaimed sports cars on the road today, as well as one of the most innovative. So, instead, Mazda has evolved the RX-8.
The RX-8 Shinka - "Shinka" means "evolution" in Japanese - is equipped with exclusive new features, several exterior and interior material upgrades, and enhanced chassis and suspension tuning.
Offered in both 6-Speed and Sport AT versions, the Shinka is equipped with the RX-8 Grand Touring Package, which includes a Bose® 300-watt 9-speaker sound system with 6-disc CD changer, heated mirrors and seats, and a sunroof, among other items. The model is available exclusively in a rich Black Cherry Mica exterior matched by similarly exclusive parchment leather-trimmed seats.

yea i don't think i'm a fan of the rx8 shinka. Don't really like that color, plus it's basically identical to the canadian model rx8. But to each is own
i'll stick with the black, eventho it's impossible to keep clean.

The dealer told me that it was mahagony, but are confused the other sales person called it a black cherry. They are a rare color but not for me. I'll stick to my Blue...

Yes, that is a Shinka
Nice to see some company in Canada - my dealer had said that there are only 20 coming to Canada out of the 2,150 made, with only 2 of those going to Vancouver dealers.
I've had mine about a month now and so far the interior has no scuffs - I'm going to get a professional detailing done in the next week with leather protection while I am getting my windows tinted.
The car has been great, lots of fun to drive and photographs do not capture the depth of the color. Lots of positive feedback on the car from strangers, it draws some attention.
Hope all the Shinka owners join this forum, it is one of the better car forums on the internet.

I like the exterior color....white leather seats? I had those in a former car and they were hars to keep clean. I had to clean them every week to keep them looking nice. It doesn't surprice me that the salespeople at kramer didn't have their info correct. They don't seem to be up on the 8 like they are on the Mazda 3.

Cool! I went to NorthHill today to get maintenance done and spoke to my dealer guy. I didn't see the Shinka there but he told me that the guy who bought it from them picked it up yesterday. Doh! He told me that it's one or two per dealership for now. So maybe we'll see 3-6 Shinka's in Calgary.

Hmmm now that I took a closer look at that Shinka. I think it's missing some things. Maybe it's the sunlight bleaching out the rims but I'm pretty sure that they are supposed to be the bling bling aluminum polish rims. My dealer swears they are chrome (like the MS rims) but according to the brochure he gave me it says aluminum polish. I looked at TopGear's pics and he seems to have the same rims as us. What gives?
Also, I thought the Shinka is supposed to come with the rear lip spoiler (Euro spoiler) but in the pic it doesn't seem to have it. But now I think it's the angle that the pic was taken from. The brochure mentions the rear lip spoiler too. Looking at TopGear's pics, he's got it.
Not to knock the Shinka but I think the Canadian ones got jipped on the rims!

Here are examples on the variation on the stock rims.
The first is the Dark Chrome rims (that my dealer claims are on the Shinka)
The second is the Polished rims (which theoretically should be on the Shinka)
The last is the standard rims ... from buddman's pics, it appears that the rims are closest to this
TopGear, maybe you can chime in on this seeing as that you own a Shinka
