2010 Sigma Racing Time Attack! 4 Events at Mosport DDT!
Hello Car Enthusiasts,
Sigma Racing Time Attack Series (SRTA Series) (www.sigmatimeattack.com) was formed by a group of racing enthusiasts who wanted more from the usual lapping days without the immense cost and commitment of pursuing racing in existing racing sanction bodies. SRTA welcomes all drivers from licensed professionals to beginners to come to our events and tune their cars, improve their driving, compete in our time attack and have fun in a safe environment.
Our events feature:
- Your own personal lap-timer for the first 6 hours of test and tune from 9:00am to 3:00pm to tune and test your vehicles’ set-up.
- Running leader board throughout the day to objectively measure your performance against other participants.
- Official Time Attack at the end of the day from 3:00pm to 5:00pm where participants can put their skills to the test and place on our leaderboard.
- Maximum of 45 cars to ensure driving without traffic and line ups.
- Prizes for the fastest racers, and other perks and bonuses for all participants at the event.
- 50% Refund Rain Day Guarantee Program for all prepaid participants. (see our site for details)
- Pre-registered price of only $165 CAD (tax included) for an entire day of competitive racing and fun!
SRTA has 4 events for the year 2010:
Sunday, May 30
Sunday, June 27
Sunday July 25
Sunday, August 22
For more information, please check out: www.sigmatimeattack.com
If you have any questions regarding the SRTA series events, we will be more than happy to answer them within the thread.
Thank you very much for your time everyone!

I am by no means a pro and this whole driving thing is a life long learning process but this video does a nice job summarizing why I am not a huge fan of some events of this type: Semi street racing / modification culture mentality, cars running wild, missing apexes, trying to correct lack of skill by a heavy foot and almost flying of the track.

not sure why you'd think that a bunch of guys/girls taking their cars to a track would be considered semi street racing since its exactly the opposite of the street racing mentality.
street racing = illegal, dangerous to yourself, dangerous to other drivers, and innocent by-standers
track = legal, safe environment (lots of run off if you exceed your limits, nothing to hit, just grass to slow down on)
if you fly off the track, whoops, you exceeded either your limit, or your cars limit, so you drive back onto the track and slow down the next time you take that turn. It's fun, its safe, and you don't have to worry about hitting curbs, other drivers, kids on bicycles, or patches of gravel.
The mentality of a street racer is nothing like the mentality of a responsible track-driver. Personally I've been to a handful of track days, I drive a RX-7 which is too much car for me, so I turned down the boost to 5psi (stock is 10) so that I could develop my driving skills first before trying to control a powerful car. the few times I've went have made be a MUCH better driver, and quite frankly, when I'm driving my car on the street, I simply have absolutely no temptation to show anyone how fast my car can be in a straight line, or drive aggressively around other unsuspecting drivers. Track just gets that out of your system, and makes you MUCH safer driver on the street.
Plus you get to experience how your car feels at its limits, not something you can do on the street (at least without endangering a whole lot of people and property)
running off the track, missing apexes, taking turns too fast, taking turns too slow (i'm guilty of this more than too fast), as you said, its a learning process, but its better to learn it responsibly at the track, not on the street.
and don't even get me started on Bill 203 lol....

Hello Everyone~!
Thank you very much for your interests! I've been a looooooooooooong-time RX-7 owner, and go by Howi on rx7club.com. I will own the grey FD shown in our promotional video.
I wasn't expecting such controversy about our promotional video. I'm actually quite embarrassed to showcase the video because I'm the one who made it, and it's my very first attempt at video editing....
The real message of our video, as robrecht had nailed it, is to challenge all the car enthusiasts and racers to come to our events and race legally and safely on the track, instead of racing irresponsibly on the streets and endangering others.
nate340 also hit the sweet spot. While it's cool (for us) to show a time attack lap around the track with nice lines and a fast lap time, it'd probably make a rather boring promotional video. But hey, it's the first video I've ever made, what do I know.... A lot of my inspiration came from this video, which is one of my favourite videos of all time:
http://www.metacafe.com/watch/138420/moto_gp_animals
That video makes my blood boil everytime I watch it....
Anyways, the main goal of our events is to encourage frequent lapping day veterans to come and race against the clock. We will give you a lap timer for you to use for the entire day, which in our opinion, is an essential tool to learn how to drive better, and faster. We wish to bring an objective measure (time) to the frequent track guys so that it would be more meaningful and goal-driven every time they go to the track.
What we've learned from our lap timers is that, we got faster, VERY QUICKLY. Time told us although this new racing line feels faster, it actually isn't; the new exhaust system didn't really help much; we needed wild camber settings to get the fastest time; and that Ferrari we passed was only cooling down and wasn't trying at all .... etc.
Come out and Test & Tune with us; we guarantee that you'll learn at an exponential pace. We realized how much time and money we've wasted over the years pointlessly attending as many lapping days as we could, but never knowing how fast/slow we were....
Hope to see more RX's our there guys!
Best Regards,
Howi

Hello All!
This is just a friendly reminder that our pre-registering for the May 30th event will close on May 22, which is 8 days prior to the event!
In case you haven't read through our site, I want to let you know that SRTA has designed many perks that only the pre-registrants can enjoy:
1. All pre-registrations will cost only $165 (taxes included), whereas walk-ins will cost $200.
2. To protect our pre-registrants, we have a rain-day-guarantee program, where if it rains for more than 3 hours that day, we will refund all pre-registrants 50% admission!
3. When we have 45 pre-registrants, we will simply close our door and will not accept any additional pre-registers or walk-ins. We will strictly enforce our cap of 45 racers in any event to ensure our racers won't experience line-ups or traffic.
4. Although all pre-registered and walk-in racers can participate in our Official Time Attack, only pre-registrants can win a cash prize of $165 for holding the fastest lap times in each class.
If you want to come out, make sure you pre-register with us!
Thank you very much for your time!

Hey folks... anyone who is even considering going to the next one of these (Aug 22) should just jump in and do it.
I went out to watch a buddy of mine have a go and I have to say that this was one of the best track day events I've ever been to. It was really well organized, that lap timers / giant LCD for the time readouts were nice touches, and everyone I talked to there was extremely friendly rather than the usual clique's you normally find at such things.
In any case, I'm going to try to head out to the event on the 22nd... anyone else interested?

Hello All,
SRTA apologizes for the looooooong wait on the July 25th photos. We experienced some difficulties because we were experimenting with various styles of photos from multiple photographers. The results are completely different from our previous photos; just a little change of taste!
The July 25th photos are up!!! They can be seen here:
http://www.sigmatimeattack.com/?page_id=8
Please allow us to make one last reminder this year:
Sigma Racing Time Attack is hosting our LAST event this year on August 22, and our early pre-registration ($165) closes at tomorrow midnight, August 14. This is your LAST CHANCE to track with us and have your laps timed!
I hate writing as if I'm yelling at people. Sorry about that guys!!
Cheers!
