Talking 23km and improved gas consumption

Hello Everyone!! I just wanted to report that at 23km I am receiving improved gas consumption. I got 400km form the last tank and when I filled up the car was close to E but the light wasn't on. I was previously getting 340km when the E light would come on. I havn't changed my driving style.

So it must me true what they said in the tech form about the ECU adjusting to improve gas consumption after 22km on the car. All you new owners can look forward to improved gas consumption once you put some km's on your car.

Do you mean 23,000 km?

Well, I get about 400 km to the tank now, and I have around 7000 km on the odometer. So should I be expecting better mileage at 23,000?

I have also noticed a similar modest improvement in gas kilometrage after having the ECU reflashed. In a conversation with a dealer, I was told that the ECU's are programmed with the California regulations in mind which are restrictive as to emmissions and sound to about 24,000 kilometrers. Many of them automatically switch at that point. Has the sound changed? I'm only at 18,000.

I know this has been debated to death.....

but i have NEVER gotten better mileage than 340km/fillup. Did you get that 400km with some highway driving?

I have 12,000km on mine and I regularly get 400km/tank. I drive 50/50 highway and city driving. Also about 1 liter of oil per 3,000km of driving so far.

There's some highway driving, but it's mostly city. I haven't had to do anything special.

One thing that may make a difference: I usually shift gears at around 3000 RPM when I'm puttering around town. Only when I'm doing some serious performance driving do I shift at higher RPMs.
