24k inspection.. necessary?

is it necesssary to get the 24k inspection done at mazda? all they do is inspect the brakes and air filter and will probably charge a fortune for that... can I just get it done at mr lube or something?? would they dis honor my warranty because I dont get my 24k done @ an official mazda dealer?

If it's just brakes and air filter you can do it yourself for free

And they can only void your warranty if they can prove that missing this maintenance caused the problem. Even then, they can't void the entire warranty, just on the part that was directly damaged by this "negligence".

I didn't do it, and never had a problem with warranty...

I did ask them to check my air filter during an oil change 3 months ago, and they checked it for free and told me it's still good (still on the original one).

But I will be doing my 48k inspection soon since quite a bit of stuff is in that one.

dying, if anything happened, go to northhill mazda; i think you will be really happy with their service. i kinda start to love dealership now due to their work. apparently, dealers always have higher labour fee but if you have seen how much better they can do than any other places, you will accept how much you paid.
most important, they are kind and nice; they treat you very well; they are not like some US dealership who always void your warranty due to some little mods. oppositely, they would like to help u put u under the warranty; like few weeks ago, i had SSV stuck open check engine light on and intake manifold clean was required. my 8 has already been out of the three year warranty; but since intake manifold is sorta part of the engine, they tried to convince their service manager to give me warranty on that cleanning work. although i put some fuel cleaner and fixed myself, i am still really happy and appreciated with their help.

24K? WOW i wish. I had that done last year already
I had it done at the dealer. It consisted of 'yeah your air filters fine' and an oil change. Nothing else done, nothing else mentioned. Not a word (and usually they try and sell you on it..!)
More than likely not an issue!

Brake pads TSB? I was debating asking about that.. embarrassing when its cold out can hear me stopping a mile away! I figured my km was too high to complain though (42K)
I checked out my taillights last time i washed it, i have teensy little dead spiders in the right one, no condensation yet though? My trunk request switch died a few weeks ago. I've got to go get that installed (keep forgetting to make an appt). I miss it, very useful little button.

So your visor went too? Just snapped off like mine did I bet, last summer when it was +30. Plastic was too warm.. i had to tie it up so i could see where i was going..

Heh, I just had that replaced twice by Sunridge...Was pretty cool, because the water I had in there was an ice cube on colder days...The new light seems to be holding up well this time...

hah my driver side visor exploded, funny I was driving one day and thinking.. man.... everyone on rx8club.com is complaining about broken visor and Bin cover, and i only had my Bin cover broken... the visor must be overdue.. then I flipped my visor down and it popped on me.
the brake pad .... when I bought the car in I had ~ 23k on it.. they said it wont be covered under warranty, but there was a recall on the brakes .. *??* so i said if there was a recall and you never told me about it and now the brake squeak then shouldn't it be covered..they at first said no.. then thought about it.... said yes and ordered it for free :D
