'83 RX7 with 30000kms - worth it?

I'm half serious about buying it to have around; the interior needs work and it has a rusty dent but otherwise it appears solid and it's amazingly original. They say it's the original owner.
I looked up some info. and found that they're only 2450 pounds but they do have a live axle (sucks!)...

With only 105hp I know the engine is easy to mod, but it'll likely go to my son when he's of age so I maybe 105hp is plenty...
Anyone on here have any kind of experience with these?

Yes that's a very good deal. Is it 30,000kms on the replacement engine or the body? If it's the body then buy it before someone from the RX-7 forum does. 1st generation RX-7s are like go-karts.

Thanks for the replies & rust tips.
It's 30k on the whole car - which sounds hard to believe. I'm looking at it Saturday. Still unsure about the live axle, used to have a Miata and it handled amazingly on those skinny tires, so I'm unsure about the 7.

We have a 12A Peripheral Port built for it. We feel to start it will be much easier to set the car up with a mild 13B street port and it is being built as we speak. We are using 93-95 turbo side plates with there monster ports and my spare 89-91 high compression rotors. This engine should produce about 200-220 rwhp but be flexible in the rpm range where the p.ports are not.
