Advanced keyless start
Does anyone know what happens in the following situation to our cars:
I am the key fob holder. I start the car. I get out of the car and walk away out of range of the car. The car is running, another person steps in and attempts to drive off.
Will the car auto-shut off cause no key is present? or it will let the person drive off?

That's right, the person can drive off with your car. When they turn it off is when they run into trouble as the car will not start again.
The car will warn you though as you walk away while its started. It will beep for approx. 3 seconds telling you that you've left the car on and have taken the key.

Basically your screwed...the car will drive without the key. The minute you take the car off then it will require the key to start and to lock the doors. So yeah our car can be stolen while we leave it to warm up...

You do realize that's the worst thing you can do to a car, right?
You're suppose to get into the car, let the computer figure things out for 15-20sec's, and then begin to drive.
If you leave it "warming up" the engine doesn't get hot quickly, you're waisting fuel, and of course you leave your car to the possibility of getting stolen.
I'll never understand why people do this. The industry doesn't help either. Offering remote starters for the winter as an option.
So you get into a cold car. Dress appropiately and gently get the car up to operating temperature. How hard can this be?

Neo is correct. Modern cars do not need to a few minutes of idling to warm up. In fact the car gets to operating temp faster when it is in motion because it promotes other lubricants to circulate as well. Having said that, do not jump on the engine when engine is cold. Use some simple common sense. Idling to warm-up is bad for fuel. very unnecessary.
My procedure is. Start the car. Strap on my belt. Turn on the radio (sometimes). Admire the beautiful gauges. And then back-out of the garage and drive within 4000rpm. The rotary gets hot quickly so within 3 minutes, the temp gauge rises.

Remote star by compustar ftw, lol, i'm just kidding, i put in a remote start, but after the lecture I got from Neo, I actual have used only that one weekend, when we were having temps dip as low as -16. I had to do inventory that one night, it felt retarded trying to shift. Even the plastic hvac ***** felt like they were frozen.
