This is actually common in the business.
Salesman cannot change the price, only the Manager can. It's up tot he saleman to convince you that that's a good price and how they came up with it.

And he shouldn't keep going back and forth so much. Each time he leaves the customer he looses a bit more control over the sale.

A customer may say he wants this package added on, salesman has to talk to the mgr ... then custoemr comes up with somethign else, salesman goes back to mgr,l and it can continue on like that.

Instead the salesperson should had asked "Ok you want this, this and this, aside from those things is there anything else you may want?"

Keeps customers from playing the game they sometimes like to play.

Winning Blue GT (not sure about the roof) with the Mazda Aero kit on it (like I have) and I'm told they are asking $34,900 for it.

Talk to Jasper the 2nd on this forum about it. He bought his Silver GT from them. He should be able to get you a contact with the dealership.

*Edit: Just double checked Jasper's other post, and the car has the moonroof. If it does have the aero kit on it like mine does, then it's a $43,000 car marked down to $34,900 in order to move it. Probably worth a call.

Think they're willing to go down to 33k?
Maybe I'll try...

Hmmm... Sales guy told me it got sold.

Mazda Canada does all their financing through Scotia Bank. $2000 of every RX-8 goes to Scotia who in turn offer 3.9% financing.

After tax and delivery, the car is going to cost you around $43,000 CDN. If you are paying a substancial amount down like $20,000 or $30,000, it is less expensive for you to get the $2000 cash rebate and go with regular Scotia banks rates of 7.3%

This can mean the difference between $37,000 and $39,000 when negotiating the price of the car. I bought a new 2004 GT. I went to the Automobile Protection Agency in Toronto and got a copy of the dealer invoice for $25. The margin was about $3,000. I had it locked in my mind that I was not going to pay the dealer more than $1,200 over after delivery, PDI, etc. I also subtracted my $2,000 cash discount, and the dealer still arranged the 7.3% financing.

By the way, it pisses me off that they charge you an extra $100 for the paint. Next thing you know, the lug nuts on the wheels will be an option.

Here's the way it stacked up. The dealer wanted $38,500 on a new 2004 GT, moon roof, 6-CD, but no NAV. The margin on the car was about $3,000. I ended up paying $35,000 knowing that after three years, the resale value of a loaded 2004 GT with moonroof would be the same as a 2005 GS that was not loaded.

Sunroof....

Don't sacrifice the GT pack to avoid a sunroof, it is optional. The GT is a GREAT deal more than the GS in Canada, it is only about $2300, but has a lot more than that in options.

The GT pack really MAKES this car, the headlights, leather, wheels, DSC, it all adds up to a much better drive!

I agree on the sunroof, I also avoided the Nav system.

Well beaver, sure hope you enjoy driving my 8...

Guess I'll keep looking for a good deal...
Not to say I got all worked up too for that 8 (and I love that blue too).

Oh well, back to the drawing board.

Good buy Beaver and hope you enjoy it, cause I would.

The only option that i would consider for the GT is the lights . I don't like sunroofs, or leather. I won't be using the dsc because my car is parked in the winter, and i'm still unsure of what you mean about the wheels( they're the same).

Beaver: Glad you picked up that car. It was too good of a deal. Also glad you saw the light and picked up the Blue.. I told you it was the best. Even better, it removes one of the Blue cars from the Nova Scotia population.. back down to only being 3 of us.

Pete: DSC is useful for more then in the snow, but it depends how you drive the car I suppose. It kept me and my cold race tires from sliding into the kitty litter on a dirty section of track a couple of weeks ago. Earned it's price right there.
