Wink Another Gas Mileage thread

I started this thread so that people can reference the info in one page.

After one page is full, please start another thread.

I'll start:

Gas is expensive and my car burns too much of it when I have the gas pedal all the way to the floor. Why is that? :D

You kill me!

I heard the Sucky Silver models come standard with a Brick (in Aluminum trim) underneath the gas pedal - they claim they use less gas BUT it explains the severe lack of performance they have compared to V RED's.....:D Maybe we can "upgrade" to this sought after accessory......

being closer to the north pole skews your car's performance and gas mileage. Mazda also detuned the engine based on the CDN$/US$ exhange rate :D

It has to do with the butterfly effect. A butterfly flaps its wings in South America which leads to:

1. A small disturbance in the air that multiples in factors and carries across continents.

2. The air resistance cause a Japanese engineer to decide how to redesign the rotary engine with side import valves.

3. However the same air creates a beautiful day outside and the Japanese engineer to run out and frolick instead of solving the gas problem.

4. While outside, he visions of a new type of vehicle with suicide doors, 50/50 balance and this sets off a flurry of engineering and design activity across the Mazda corporate sturcture.

5. Ultimately leading to the 2001 Tokyo auto show where the RX8 makes a permire. Many reporters are impressed and thus sets off a flurry of good write ups and exposure on the revolutionary RX8 design. At the time, the gas issue was of little concern since the price of oil was below 60 USD per barrel.

6. This lead you to decide that it would be VERY COOL to own an RX8. You go out and get it.

7. When you realize that putting the gas to the floor makes the RX8 a HUGE gas guzzler.

8. Which gives you the idea to start this thread even though there are 1000 other threads on MPG for the RX8 already on this site.

Damn that butterfly! :D

I think the reds are only faster then the silvers in Alberta, here in Ontario it's the other way around.

I think that VR's are just dis-illusioned regardless of what province. Everybody knows that blues are the fastest ... heck, that's why the call it WINNING blue.

Of course you agree because you never seen a silver 8 boot it You should see how slow silver 8's accelerate from the outside compared to a REd 8. Not very impressive. What's even funnier is that a few silvers have bought aftermarket intakes which clearly make the car louder and substantially slower. Remember more decibells does not = more horsepower :D I'll never understand why some people would invest money to detune a car's performance? Oh well, I guess some people have money burning a hole in their pockets. Thank God you and Hellbreed never threw away your money on such a silly detuning mod. But on the bright side, silver 8's shouldn't be that sad because everyone knows that the Blue is the snail of the RX8 family. Even the white and yellow 8's are faster! If you bought blue, you might as well have bought a diesel Jetta.

VR 8 rules, and you all know it !!!!! Learn it, accept it, live with it!!

Haven't heard from danielson since yesterday.....I wonder if his cursed silver car spontaneously combusted. Or a building fell on top of it. Or it was hit by six cars at the same time. Or it fell into a pothole...............

Didn't Alberta get nailed with 45cm of snow or something like that on the weekend when we were enjoying 30C+ weather????
