I have it. There isn't a whole lot to say about such a simple product. It works.
I do have a couple complaints. When I press a button to change the song the response is a little lagged. Also, there's an intermittent faint high-pitched whining sound. It isn't noticeable if you're listening to 'busy' music but if you're listening to something like classical it comes through.
Besides that it's good. I'm not sorry I bought it. I saw a while back that there's some other product out now though that actually displays the song info on the radio screen.
edit: I have the ipod version.

NP Greg! Seems like a nice easy solution.
the 04 8 comes with the mp3, 6 disc, or single cd player, depends what option the original owner picked.

ive got a 6 disc, base sound system though. anyways, i dont want to make a CD everytime i get a few new tunes. plus on long drives, 6 non MP3 CDs dont last long and i like to have as little in my car as possible. i like the idea of mounthing this somewhere tucked away with a little flash drive with a bunch of tunes on it. neat, no jewel cases tumbling around in the car. no CD booklets flying under the seat if you make a hard stop. this is definitly the next non-necessary thing i buy for the 8.

Yeah. I've just found them on ebay for US$99 (CDN$121).

This would be very cool for all the reasons Greg just mentioned. Now I can get my entire collection of Nana Maskouri and Barbara Streisand duets on one card! Yah! MWAH HA HA!

I have one that I used for maybe two weeks then picked up a corksport kit.
Audiolink for Ipod Video (AUX in/IPOD/IPOD VIDEO CABLES). Also comes with a MINI DIN extension cable (10-15 dollar extra) to give you enough slack to mount your ipod in the centre console.
I'll sell it for 50 shipped or 40 locally in calgary. Pretty much brand new, not a scratch with all boxes etc.
If I were you I'd go for an ipod one. The really nice thing about the audio link is it'll allow you to go up and down between your songs, but it also doesn't lock the ipod so you still retain full control of the unit. Most of the other solutions lock the ipod (which is absolutely terrible).
So mount the unit in your centre console and you'll love it. Completely stealth, and either you or the passenger can use. Definately a much better solution.
Well worth it to go for the ipod version versus the USB version. Heck you can pickup a used 20-40 gig ipod and buy this unit from me and it'll cost you about the same as just the usb version

HIPPAK!!! Hook it up! It's like you're psychic because I was thinking the other day that I should do something with my old school ipod and rx8 --> instead of selling it (the ipod not the 8). Sending you a PM in like 2 seconds.

the pics dont do his car justice. when we went on the forks cruise, he was behind me for a while. i couldnt stop looking in the mirror. lol. Marcs car has inspired to me to want the appearance package with MS side skirts...but i dont want to just copy someone elses car completely...we'll see what i can come up with next season.

Don't do it man. Once you go side skirts, you're gonna want a spoiler... and at least a front lip... then maybe the rear diffuser... then rims... then soon all your money goes to parts... then your wife gets angry... then she takes away your car... then you cry uncontrollably at the whole in your wallet, no car, and an angry wife.

HAHA! Yeah no ****. Funny how women can easily justify the purchase of purses and shoes, yet when it comes to buying for the car or home theatre and PS3, it's as though Satan himself is making the purchase. I'm not really into the spoilers and such. I like subtle, elegant and classy additions. Nothing screams "Pull me over! I've got drugs in the car and I'm likely to speed!" like a massive spoiler.

As for price believe they are around $700-800 painted.

Awesome price man, would buy it but I don't have an IPOD. So I think the SD or USB is the way to go for me. Too bad. Dude that Corksport kit is crazy expensive!! Sucks that it kills your clock and ambient temp.
Thx Greg!! you live far away no worries I luv the look of it, but still gonna do MS front end, and keep the current on for the winters.

also, do you mean the corksport kit kills the clock/amb display, or does the audio link setup do that? Thats make or brake for me. I read all through the audio link page but couldnt see anything saying specifically that it still allowed that display to function fully.

but he's right... once you get the side skirts you need to get something for the front at the very least because the side's will then be lower then the rest of the car... just looks off.

The corksport kit kills the display. The audio one doesn't, works thru the current display.
agreed!! you have to do something with the side skirts.
