Any Toronto Meets Coming Up Soon?

I have been away for a year and half and the only name I recognized was BlueFrenzy in Calgary. Wow.... a lot of new RX8 Owners.... Not very many over the old owners...

Does anyone know if that dip **** with the Subaru WRX in Wisconsin still poking around here and bad mouthing the 8 or did he finally buy an 8 and finally realize what it is like to drive a well balanced sports car?

Any meets scheduled for any time soon? D & B on HWY7 and 400 used to be a hit.

Hellas....Neo... you guys still around?

That dip **** should know that a Subaru is a rally car, not a sports car...and unless its an STI I'm sure an 8 would eat it on the track.

I'm new too, ha. Havn't seen many meets listed, but I'm stuck on the East end.

Happy New Year Shamb!
What brings you out from the cave you fell in??
How are things buddy?

We haven't heard from Hellas just as long as we haven't heard from you.
Some of the originals are still around. Alot of new blood though.

We should setup a winter meet soon. Get everyone reaquianted.

That's the problem with him, he didn't have a STI and he thought he owned a sports car. In any event, neither Suburu has the balance and poise the 8 has. I know because my best freind had a STI. It was fast, I mean really fast, but I can't get joy out driving a modified small family car that was souped up. Sorry to drag on this point, but this guy drove me nuts with his idiot comments and pretend engineering degree and race track driver experience.

Footman, I may not be the right guy to set these things up. I did my fair share of setting them up a few years ago for the earlier members but, I lost that sense of organization and should leave it for some of the new guys. Afterall, I just came back to this site after 18 months or so.

Hopefully someone will step up and set a meeting time and day.

Neo, "The Legend". So nice to hear from you. All the very best to you and your family for 2009. Nice to see you are still active on these forums. How's the 7 running? Still never seen rain? Yes, agreed... we shoudl meet. Its been a real long time. Busy as hell at work. My 8 go demolished as a lady rammed me from behind while I was stopped at a light. In the body shop for 5 months everything from the rear doors pretty much had to be replaced... the whoile car repainted....blah blah blah... Amazingly enough, the engine ran as perfect normal as the day I got rear ended... There's a rotary engine for you!!

Definitely would be interest in hooking up for a meet. "Dan the Man" should be back from the U.K. by now, right? Too bad Hellas has gone astray, he was one really good guy.

You know how to organize these meets.... Make it so!!

Cheers !!

No wonder you fell off. I would be so furious if some lady did that to me while I was driving my FD!
Yep, still got the FD. Still hasn't seen rain. I've actually completed the modifications. Almost done with the Miata too. That's right, I'm a 2 sports car owner now.
Do you still have the 8?? I can't believe you got it repaired. Most people would have opted to get a newer model. Most insurance companies would have made that car a write off. Regardless, good to see it's put back together.

I haven't heard from Dan in a long time. I hope he's doing well in England.

I haven't organized a meet since the last time we met. I leave that up to the young blood now. No time. Too many other things to take care of. You know how it is.

Lets see if 1 of them sets something up.

Ya, it started at $9,000 damage and buy the time they finished it balloned to $19,000 or something. The body shop and the insurance company settled somewhere in the middle at the end of the day. I still have... still love it.... and rewarded myself for my patience and treated myself to the 7 year extended warranty and an intake. Now with your 2 sports cars, you are getting me really excited. We'll need 2 meets now so we can admire and drool over each car, one at a time. I know you do these things right or they don't get done...so I am really pumped to hear all about them and hopefully see them.

Agreed, we pass the torch to the young blood to set up a meet. Then we can tell them lies as to how the 8's back in the day did 0-60 in 4 seconds...... maybe we'll fool a few of them but not many. We'll have to take the keys away from those that actually believe us old dogs.... But mind you, if "Dan The Sick Man" decides to do a 5 minute smoke show in the parking lot, we may get a little respect!!

Talk to you soon.

haha, sorry to put you on edge about this. it wasnt that big of a deal. no mazda's were harmed during that cruise. no wait, there was that big accident that happened around some of the guys on the way to meet point number 2...there might have been a mazda involved in that. its all there in the old thread. i think it happened in october or november. might wanna leaf through it. it was a very interesting time. haha. it was my first time out and it left a huge impression on me to say the least.

Greg

Thanks RotaryGreg for the link. Seems like a nice day and great picks. Did WCS even make it there? The bugger is hooked up with Nitro...literally.

Looking forward to the next meet even though I could be categorized as any one of your grandfathers...

Wow, you're alive!! Super!! Nice to hear from you. I am up for a weekend gig too. I'll bet my bottom dollar Helas sold his 8 for a bloody Porsche or Ferrari or something in that order.... I'll be totally delighted if he popped in and said hello.

Looking forward to seeing y'all soon. Lets try to make it happen in the next couple of weeks. Keep checking in for a time/place....

Sham,

Nothing to worry about. As you can see from the pics, the FD hasn't looked prettier.

The FD had problems rolling. There might be a vacuum leak somewhere. I'm pretty sure I know where it is, so when the weather gets better I'll attack the problem.

Lets see if any of the young blood will bring up a date to meet up on.

I wonder if 2009 will be the year where all the "oldies" come out to play.

Only if your car is red and can do 0-60 under 5 seconds. Naturally aspired rotaries need not apply. You must be blown or well equipped to chug Nitro....

Just kidding of course anyone one in any year of the RX family are welcome. Freinds and families too are always welcome...

Cheers!

Indeed, your FD looks phenomenal..... I'm sure you'll find the problem.

Cheers for now.

Hrmmm... alright.. so.. winter meets kind of suck as we've all determined. Half the 8's are in storage... other people have dropped off the face of the earth... and certain people can't seem to get permission to come out any more *cough*Neo*cough*...

That being said.. what would you guys say to a prospective meet on Jan 17th (Saturday). If there's enough interest I'll setup a meet (new post etc). I guess the location will be determined by who actually wants to come out and where the majority of people are located.

God. I can't wait for spring.

Great idea, lets all play poker with a guy that proudly calls himself "Thief"!! I'm sure I have good odds to win!!

Just kidding... sounds like a great idea to me if we can get enough guys. I love poker. There is always the Casino too and then we can call the dealer "Thief" instead!
