Anybody have Rx8 laptimes for Mosport?

Don't have to be pro times or anything, just a ball park?

I haven't heard any but am thinking mid 1:40's might be decent, maybe a little optimistic though with that long back straight.

Well, I can tell you my best lap at mosport in my RX-7 is 1:37.712 and I know the Speed Source RX-8 race cars did a low 1:34 to a high 1:33 something! That is humpin f..'ing fast!!! I imagine a stock RX-8 on stock tires, suspension etc with a pro driver could run in low 1:40's, but with a street driver I would think high 40's to low 50's could be expected. A WORD OF WARNING! If you have little or no track experience, Mosport IS NOT a place to drive your RX-8! It is very fast and every corner has potential to write-off your car! Learn at Shannonville or the driver development track at Mosport before going on the big track. At the Grand-Am cup race this year a Speed Source preprared RX-8 driven by a team who's 1st time at Mosport was that weekend, and the 2nd race with the car destroyed it at the bottom of turn 2 by hitting the inside wall. He got a little loose at the bottom of the corner, and lifted off the throttle (which is the natural thing to do) but didnt realize about the little bump at the bottom of the corner. When you hit that bump at the bottom just a little messed up it becomes HUGE! Anyway just a word of friendly advise!

Thanks. That's what I was thinking. I have raced mosport plenty of times so I'm fairly confident there, but, respectful at the same time. It is a tough course.

Trans-am cars run 1:20's at Mosport, I'd love to know what car went 1:14's unless your driving an ALMS LMP1 or 2 car. If you running 1:30 at Mosport you would win GTA in Regional Racing!

If it was my car I might :p

It was a full on race car based on the E36 M3. I think the guy said he wanted to run it in Super GT class of IIRC the Ontario Touring Car Championship, but there was nobody else in the class or something so he sold it. It was bloody fast.

Just looked at the Grand-Am website - for the results of the Mosport 200 .
How is it that the speedsource can pull off a best lap of 1:339?
I thought the engine is stock?
So driver skill + suspension results in 15 seconds from a stock car?
I thought Mosport was a HP track?
Looking at the times - the cars were all pretty close.
The RX-8 even bettering some 996's, and M3's.
Generally the bigger cars were in the 1:30 to 1:33 range.
3 seconds at an average of 82MPH represents only 120 feet/lap.
#84 Racing - How come your RX-7 is so slow? Shouldn't you be under 1:30?
Or does budget = time?
The way I see it you car should be lighter have at least 50 more HP over the speed source cars.
I'd really like to know how different the speedsource RX-8's are over stock. What their key modifications are.

The speedsource cars are far from stock. They have about 200 rear wheel horsepower ( as per the owner of the company) and you can bet if he tells me 200, its more like 250! The shocks alone in the speedsource cars are worth more than my whole car! The cars are completely gutted and weigh less than my car. Grand-AM cup gives weigh advantages to certain models, thats how a Chevy Cobalt beat the RX-8, Porsche etc at Mosport. The RX-8 has 225/45r17 tires and I run 225/50r15. The speed source average lap is about 3 seconds quicker than my AVERAGE lap. You cant compare my 90 RX-7 to a factory backed race car!

#84Racing :

Stop Making Excuses. It's all in the Driver NOT the CAR :p
I bet Tremblay could do 1:33 in your car!
You don't give your beater enough credit. Sure sounds like an evil chainsaw.
250HP to the wheels - secret JDM spec RX-8 engines? I knew the factory was holding something back. Blame that damn factory ECU running pig rich. That's why speedsource is running a full standalone.

You sure the Speedsource RX-8's are only running 225's?
Isn't that a bit under tired?

How fast do the Honda Michelin Series spec cars do a lap?

When to the track last weekend the first time in the rx8
Stock rx8 130000 km orignal engine

The fastest i went was 1:45.1 In traffic. I only had someone timing me in one session... I would have done a 1:43-1:44 easy if i didnt have to back off in 2, 3 and 4... never thought a porsche would hold me up in the corners in the 8 lol With 300 plus more horse power i couldnt pass them on the strights lol... The next lap i had a clear track for the first time all day but when i came around one i notice a rx8 hit in the inside of 1 ??? and a civic on the outside of 1??

And i had old bald R888 on the car which wasnt any better than my street tires. Which i lost 1-2 sec for not having enough grip...

So really if you are a good enough driver in a stock rx8 with R compounds you can run
some where between 1:42-1:45

Oh ya does the rx8 every suck up the back stright lol I looked down once and seen 196km would have been around 197-199km before braking i think..

I asked Eric Meyer's crew about the engine in his SCCA World Challenge RX-8. Let's just say the redline is no longer 9000rpm and they rebuild the engine every 10 hours. So there you have it.
