Dont be scared the new flash should have fixes that problem BUT if you dont want it flooded make sure you do no cold starts. Meaning dont start you car for 10 seconds and turn it off. That is one of the main causes of the engine flooding. Always wait like 3-5 minutes for the car to warm up before you drive it. Stuff you should already be doing with the car but you know that.

ive flooded my engine once (after the latest flash) and have ALMOST flooded it numerous times.. im religious about revving the car to 3K and shtting it off..always let the car warm up.. and have let my dealer know that i have had hard starting issues numerous times.. they dont want to replace my battery or my ignition..the only answer i get from metrotown mazda service desk for any issue is....no problem talk to service manager if you have problem..useless.. will try signature mazda for next serivce..

Are you saying that you did flood your engine? Under what circumstances? Did you not warm it up prior to shutting down?

that's strange that you've flooded it twice.. I have personally never flooded and i've had it since jun '04. If you wait for it to warm up completely before turning it off (needle in the middle of the gauge) it will never flood.. But that's important!!! and if your really scared about flooding, rev the engine up to 5k and turn it off when it get to 5k, let the engine spin down before you release the clutch, that's another good way of clearing the engine of gas.

Again, if you do the rev up to 5k and then turn off the car, don't take your foot off the CLUTCH!!!!

G)(o....

G)(O, have you had the fuel tank recall done? The WDS flash to "R" is a part of the recall, look for a sticker underhood, or on the doorjamb, service # ends in R.

I strongly suggest to you, and i'm sure others would to, FORGET THE NAME AND LOCATION OF ERIN MILLS MAZDA, and find another dealer. I live up the street from them, and I go to Ontario Mazda in the Dixie/401 area. Be very scared of Erin Mills, very scared. Ontario Mazda will flash your car if it hasn't recieved the new one yet.

Yeah, I'm with you there... always starts great first thing in the morning, but starting it up to come home from work makes it crank a little (maybe for 3 or 4 seconds before it starts). I was flashed up a couple of months ago too.
Anyone else observed this???

^^ its funny cause most peeps on this forum have problems starting the car first thing in the morning... in my case its the opposite..i love to start it in the morning..i get that deep BROOOOM roar...sounds like i got something crazzzy under the hood and then it calms down...starts as soon as i turn the key..

oh well.. imma try a different serivce department in March.. see if they can deal with it.

This may be a stupid question but ... is the only reason you're saying keep your foot on the clutch because you might be in gear and you don't wonna smash the front of your car against the inside of your garage ... or is that something to do with clearing the gas???

Also, has anyone had their starter or battery replaced at North Hill Mazda because of slow starting problems? Were they OK to replace them or did they resist??
