Poser... st-therese pfft

Joke

It would definitely be nice.

I dont see that many RX8 owners in Montreal.

Though this morning just before getting in the Louis H tunnel, a Red RX8 got behind me and followed me for a while.

Always seems like when I meet another RX8 owner on the road, we both have a huge smile

Actually, I crossed an RX8 owner around St-therese on the 10 going south during one of those mega snow storms in late January. We looked at each other like, yeah, **** conditions to both be on the roads.

I'm leaving for Vegas on sunday, then back for one day and off to Denver for 2 weeks, but hopefully by the time I come back it'll start being nice in Montreal.

Id be looking forward to a meet by then and new tires, hehe

My bad, I meant the 15.

I take the 10 every day on my way back from work (Brossard).

I dont have any mods.

Bought mine mid January, 2005 with 41000km.

I've done a 48000km inspection at Mazda since then (last time I give them money, long story, just dont go to Mazda President, ugh).

They changed the oil, probably 5w20. Tranny oil and diff oil as well, plus check a few other things, oh, and changed 1 seized license plate bolt (wanted to charge me 200$ for that).

I changed the plugs, hard to get a good price here, I got them in the US on a trip for 85$ tax in.

Also gave it a full bottle of REDLINE SI-1 cleaner.
Started Premixing, right now Amsoil SABER Pro (cost 17$ at a bike shop) with some Lucas UCL.

Bought a quart of Amsoil Interceptor (2cycle) instead of the Saber Pro for 10$ at Canadian Tire, going to be using that instead.

4oz of Amsoil 2cycle, 2 oz of Lucas UCL in each tank. Runs smoother.

Got a K&N drop in filter on the way, because mine is done.

And will be buying tires once I come back. Not too sure what yet.

What sucks is when I bought the car I had a big budget planned for the summer, but that turned around a few weeks ago, and Im going to be living tight as hell for the next year, so no mods I think.

I will be doing a grounding kit though, probably going to go custom, cut my own wires.

If you have any questions, dont hesitate to ask me. I spent a good 100hours reading on this site

BTW, I used to do some SOLO1, now called SoloSprint, at St-Eustache, Sanair, Shannonville and other race tracks.

I was hoping to start up again this summer, but because of the budget... it might have to wait to next year...

oh BTW, I did buy an Audiolink.

MP3 player, hooks into your radio. Can control it from the steering wheel.
Reads from USB keys, SD Cards or you can use an MP3 player (through the 3.5mm input).

I LOVE IT.

There is also a IPOD version of the Audiolink. 125$ really really worth it.

There is a canadian distributor so no hassle with the shipping (though it takes a while, he's a newfy).

no really... from newfy land.

I've got a 2005 GT.

Many modifications.... AxialFlow short shifter, AP Pulley, Mazdaspeed dual cat-back, Racing Beat Revi, Racing Beat air duct. I just ordered my Teil Flex coil over with the EDFC unit control. I will order the Mazsport ignition solution and their dual-resonated midpipe. I also strated playing with my COBB Access Port today.

This car is my little toy... I didn't had the time yet to ride it.

I'm on the south shore of Montreal, near Chambly (there is a lot of RX8 over here).

I'm planning on taking a racing driving lessons at Tremblan this year, I already took one two year ago at Sanair but Tremblant seems to be much better.

A meet could be great, two of my friends also have RX8 and they live on the island.
If you want to meet rotary owner you can always goes at Krispy Cream at Carrefour Laval every friday around 9 and 10 PM. The ClubRXquebec meets there every weeks.

The pully is not worth the money. I can't see any difference. Regarding next friday, I strongly suggest that you go see on their web site (www.clubrxquebec.com) before going there. I'm not sure they have started their meets yet.

I'm from Montreal Black 2004 GT, MS dual is my only current mod.

It would be awesome to have a meet or setup a spring run somewhere

Where do you go to get your car fixed? I got stolen and lied to at every dealer I tried on the island.

Maybe we should point out to the Montreal guys that there is a spring run planned in vermont at the end of May. We (Me and Mendossa) went with the group last year and we were around 30 car crusing the vermont twisties for two days. It was really great.

Here is the tread about the NE 2008 spring run.
https://www.rx8club.com/ne-rx-8-forum-29/new-england-spring-run-2008-a-131542/

I also started a thread about may 10th spring run at Tremblant with the mazda group. There is currently 95 cars registered to that run. It will be simple, departure from krispy kream at 10AM and going to Circuit Tremblant, We all takes picture of the group have lot of fun with everyone and come back when you wish. The return time is set to 2 PM.

Hi, I'm from the Montreal area also.

Just started to modify my 8 (2004 GT). Just received my Cobb AP. Will install it today.

I'm in the process to order the Mazsport ignition solution. For those who have this mod... please give us some feedback.

Next, I would like to upgrade the suspension. Probably Sway bars and shock.

Thanks,

Really Cool !

I already have the AP and it's really great. Make sure you don't have an after market intake because your A/F ration will go too lean and you will kill your cat.
The mazport ignition is next, along with their dual resonator mid-pipe. I also have ordered the Tein Flex coil-overs with the electronic control.

We should really think about some meet this summer. I can't do it in the next week, my car is at the dealer for a tranny rebuil. They really suck because they had it for two weeks and a half and it's not yet finished.

AP is Cool !

Just install it yesterday.
Can feel the improvement (bit more power, more responsive all along the powerband).

Thanks for the advice regarding the exhaust. I'm bone stock...

Knowing that you will order the Mazport ignition soon.
Let me know if there is a way to lower the brokage fee.

It will be great to meet this summer. I will be "in and out" of the country during the coming weeks. So difficult to do it for now but I'll keep in touch.

Hope you will get back your car soon.

Ciao,

Hi everybody, I'm from Montreal to. Hey guys want more info about some Rx meets. Go on clubrxquebec.com. There are a lot of RX lovers over there, RX-7 & 8. By the way I've just receved my Mazsport coil pack. I haven't installed it yet. Hope to see you soon in some meets.

P.S.: Has you see, I have already some majors mods (major from Mazsport) on my 8. So if you have questions don't hesitate. It is really pleasant to see that there are peoples that they want to modify there 8.

B.T.W : Je parle français aussi, vous l'avez surement remarqué à mon anglais !!! Partant pour un meeting et pour les photos.

Ciao,
I'll probably buy the ignition through Omar Khan. He gives a really good service and his prices are very competitives. As soon as I can get a quote on it I will let you know. By the way, you're french or english?

I am looking for someone who have installed the Mazsport dual resonated midpipe or anyone that have a standard midpipe. I'm a bit worried about the sound and especially the smell. That would be great if someone from the Montreal area could show me and let me smell their setup
