and rx8thunder, maybe you can take me for a spin when i drop off the wheel at your place after the cruise to see the difference it makes, im curious now. I've never driven/been in an 8 with a suposed 25 extra whp. that seems like it would be a bigger difference than 10-15 bhp.
lol ok, i didnt want to blow away ppl in the car, im not a risky driver getting a car like this at my age, theres no room to **** around, you shouldnt period, but still, customizing to stand out is my goal, i was only curious on hp gains and losses and thought id ask you about your exhaust lol ... , but i guess its just sound?

For cat-back exhaust alone, due it because of sound, not HP

Greg, I'm pretty sure the Speed exhaust is made by Magnaflow.

That's what I heard to pros., but it's more expensive.

It's like a puzzle piecing it together...one part affects another, especially when it comes to air flow. Put a turbo on with stock everything else, will just kill the turbo in power, open up the air flow and the difference would be huge. I would love to do CATless, or a high flow cat that wouldn't melt, but catless isn't worth the tickets or smell to me. Even tho our Ozone layer is fuked, I don't want to be adding to that as well. I'm NOT a tree huger just my own personal thing.

Thanks Thumper, thats what i was thinking on the bus home today, im sure the 8 would gain or lose depending on whats used on it in combinations, or alone, you guys are all experienced with this stuff, i cant say thank you enough especially with having the patience to answer my questions lol, and having mercy on a youth like me, but BACK on topic, ... i dont want to distract anyone

U won't lose from stock!! just gains are made (small ones) for the 8, but when piecing it all together, things work better together for more power. Even Al said he would do an exhaust over a MS front bumper, since the exhaust will obviously do performance, and sometimes that's more important than looks

*sigh* having problems guys....and work is closed today so i cant diagnose it. Hopefully the sales department is open tomorrow so i can get in the shop and see if i can figure this thing out. if i cant though....i dont think i'll be able to keep up with everyone on the cruise, so drive slow for me...also, my car sounds like absolute **** when i get on the gas in the high revs....so i'll have to keep quiet in the tunnel. I'm really upset about this.....how come this has to happen on a long weekend, and the long weekend before a big cruise. FACK!

major power loss in high revs. Insanely raspy/growl/rattle noise starting at 5500rpm. Sometimes the noise goes away sometime after 7 grand and power comes back at bit. Also, when the car isnt quite warm this doesnt seem to be a problem, or at least i dont hear the rasp. Im thinking maybe cat....but this rasp noise is strange, also, with the way the power comes and goes it could also been soemthing to do with the SSV. no CELs.

I dont see why i cant go on the cruise, just wont be able to keep up if every decides to take off. lol

chris_rx8 Damn man that sucks!! I never do big stuff like that before events cause it always takes longer. One meet at a time lol. Not sure if there is one before mosport or not. There will be lots of photos I'm sure.

Pros - woot woot!! Good ****! UPS right?!? Mine did the same things, unexpected circumstances or some crap, then back on time lol.

Gerg - kinda sounds like your cat, but weird it opens back up and you would get a CEL. Go figure, of course on the one day of the week you can't get into the shop. Of course we will wait for you, but there might be times we WOT, but we will slow down so you can keep up. Get her fixed up!

ya, i've got my fingers crossed that its the cat. Does anyone have a spare/used cat or test pipe in the GTA that i could borrow? i cant really fix the car tomorrow, i can only hope that i can get a 100% diagnosis on whats causing it. without parts theres nothing i can do. maybe take the cat off and hollow it out just for the weekend, but then theres a slim chance that once i do get it done under warranty it will get called back for inspection and then the bill will get passed back to me

Greg came down to Al's and we swapped his pipe. His revs are climbing smoother and his noise that he was hearing left too, hopefully he has more to report back after his drive back home.

i posted in als other thread the results. anyways, there power is back to what i remember, but the noise isnt gone. When i got home i pulled the plugs, they all looked normal and all the same so the noise isnt worrying me much anymore. now im just worried abotu the police. lol. Im definitly putting my front plate back on until i get a new cat....my car is so heat now.

LOL, if it is the baffles in the OEM muffler, how does that work? Does Mazda just get you a new exhaust? Or can you pay the difference and upgrade?

Wonder what that sound is coming from? At least you'll have your own unique sound in the tunnel on Sunday!

I can official say that no one will be upset at me now, lol!
