BC RX-8 – Mechanical Workshop (Sat, Oct. 27) – Learn How To Do It

Have you ever wanted to learn how to install a new exhaust system? Or install new suspension? Or if you’re like me, learn how to change your own oil?

Well, here’s your chance! On Saturday, October 27, BC RX-8 is hosting a Mechanical Workshop in Vancouver! The resident experts in our club will show you how to get things done!

Date: Saturday, October 27, 2007
Time: 11:30am (We'll meet up, then go have lunch nearby)
Location: Members Only Info - Will PM members about location.

This is a BC RX-8 Members Only event. If you're not a member yet, you can sign up to become a member at the event!
(For membership info, follow this link: Membership Info and click on "Membership")

If you want to attend, sign up and write down what you would like to see get installed. Since we will need to have the parts ready to be installed, please make sure you only sign up for what you have to get installed. Eg. If you want to vote for suspensions, then you must have the suspensions there at the event. Or else, everyone may vote for suspensions, but there may not actually be any to be installed at the event.

We may not have time to accommodate everyone’s request, so the most popular items will be done. However, even if you already know how to do something, or even if you know how to do everything, still come out! You might learn a few new tricks!

Sample Activities (Suggestions only. Not limited to these):

Install:
Main Headlights
Clear Corners
Suspension
Exhaust
Short Shifter
iPod Adapter
Interior Lighting
Radar Detector
Air Filter
Side Strakes
Short Air Ram
Performance Brakes & Brake Disc

Maintenance:
Rotate Tires
Replace/Clean Air Filter
Replace Motor Oil & Oil Filter
Replace Brake Pad
Replace Brake Discs
Replace Fluids

It's a bring your own car and bring your own parts event!

So if you have springs waiting to be installed, this is your chance.

Just to clarify, our experts will help you out at this event. They won't do all the work. You can't just sit back and relax. =P

Depending on what kinds of things people want to do I think there will only be enough time to do a handful of instals and maintenance demos.
I would be willing to do my brake pad change only if there aren't many people who want other things done.

This is open to all local rx-8 owners (even non bcrx8 members), but everyone will be leaving this event a bcrx8 member whether you like it or not! Muhahahah!

Seriously folks, these are the types of things that we can do if the local people help to support a club like ours. For the sponsors that bcrx8 has and the great people you'll meet and info that you'll get, bcrx8 membership is a no brainer.

Should we attach the survey to this thread?

The email about the survey hasn't drawn a lot of responses so far. Perhaps a link here in this forum will give us better results?

I don't think we need a survey. People can just write whatever they want to see beside their names like we've done.

Hey common we need something "interesting" for our star mechanic to do.
"Oil Change" "Brake Replacement" boooring.....

Someone out there need to install a new Highflow Cat? how about new suspension?
Coil Overs? or perhaps a new Air Intake?

That would be fabulous to learn how to do those!
Maybe we could mix it up, one boring maintenance session, followed by a "This is how you install the first part of your Turbo!" or "Highflow Fuel Injector!"

(I know the turbo session would take several workshops to explain.... Tim cries with joy and anticipation)

I would love to attend something like this ... and I NEED to. But I'm way out here in Ontario. If there was every one of these in Toronto or London (yeah right), I'd definitely be in.

Hmmm... Just the three of us?

Maybe people are not signing up because they don't want to vote on anything and will just come watch whatever it is we're going? If that's the case, still, sign up! Just write your name down and nothing else.

You mean the Strakes?
The silver/chrome flanges that affix to the gills behind the wheel well?

YUP! I've done em. Their easy! If you show up for the mechanical workshop, I'll show (if you like) how to do this in under 5 minutes. We can do this while we wait for the workshop to start.

The hardest part is lining them up so they appear parallel.
